I can't believe Michelle's friends and family don't support her. That's insane to me. And that strangers can be so rude to the other mom. This world is something else. I'm inspired by them both. Michelle mistakenly thinks her height is preventing her from doing things she "should" be able to do, but I had many of the same challenges she has as a "normal" size mother. And I was completely exhausted all the time. I wish she could see she's doing fine.

This is just sad and ridiculous. How this society can be, it makes me angry and breaks my heart. How dare someone tell you can't or deserve to have a family. You can't discriminate someone because of how they look, how they were born, what color they are, things they can't change. This world needs help seriously, the fact these women are doing so well for themselves and children, much better than I've seen healthy able bodies ppl do, says a lot. Anyone shaming them should take a closer look at themselves in the mirror, God don't like ugly and God is blessing these women.
@pinkmonkeybird26443 жыл бұрын
She’s doing just fine, but her own awful childhood makes her far more sensitive to any of the normal mistakes and stages of motherhood. I do not blame Michelle’s foster mother, though, because if my teen daughter got pregnant while she was a student, I’d be very upset too. I also know that if she kept the child, she’d almost certainly give up higher learning and lose the opportunity of a good education, good career, and a financially solvent life. I’d also assume she’d be a single parent, since most teen/young adult relationships end. I wouldn’t want that future for my own child, and that’s what Eileen was mourning for Michelle. She never doubted that Michelle would be an excellent parent, just that it hurt her chances for the future. But Michelle’s biological family are awful people for rejecting her repeatedly. What family takes in one sibling but refuses to take the other? They are not good people.

Bayleigh Chappel I disagree. Everyone of my disabled friends and I say we’re differently abled all the time.
@gagalaxic4 жыл бұрын
We've evolved as human species and came a long way especially with the help of technology, I think that terms and definitions like "disability" should change too, having different abilities, traits, characteristics, behaviors is what makes are different in the first place. Right before this video I watched a woman imprisoned for 16 years for strangling her 3-months old baby, and she had ALL her limbs working. Yes, we are all differently abled.
@penelopeperry83655 жыл бұрын
As my sister and I watched this it became truly apparent that Michelle focused on her "disability", whereas Trish focused on her abilities. Trish is truly an inspiration and TED talks should recruit her!

@Lord Tachanka Now that ye mention family support, - I've a funny feeling that I saw this lady in another Documentary with her Parents, and her Parents encouraged her to be as independent as possible and to do things on her own raising the kid(s,) so, surely that must have instilled confidence in her. If I can remember watching it, like I think the Parents still were in the same house but she was raising the kid(s) herself like, do ya know what it was now, it could have been one of the earlier pregnancies, but the Documentary was kinda coming at it from another angle. But can easily see from all this support, - how the other lady with the growing Toddler lacks confidence. But I do hope, that she too, finds the support and encouragement to develop her confidence.

Lord Tachanka I think the same thing. She kept talking about the people around her being negative the whole time. Even her doctor said she should consider her “options” when she was pregnant. Negative comments have probably made her feel so insecure about being a good mother. She would probably have a different outlook had she been around more positive people.

She should but easier said than done. When you have a disability it’s always you can’t you can’t you can’t from the general public. I’m not a mother and it has nothing to do with my disability, it’s simply because it’s a lifelong commitment that I don’t want to do. But this woman probably fears that somebody will make up some ridiculous story and use her disability and call child protective services on her. And when you’re disabled, they’ll come right in and take your child. I had that happen to a friend. It’s definitely something to be afraid of.

"I'm really just a mum...who happens to be disabled."-love that Allison taught her a different way to look at herself & her situation. She also gave her some much needed parenting advice that I hope she followed regarding her son's bad behaviors. As a former teacher I often told my parents that if their children behave this way at 2 years old what will they be like at 12, 14, & so on? If they don't get it under control at an early age it will be far worse later.
