when they stick the tongue out it is saying to your adversary if you lose to me today, you will end up on this tongue, when I am eating you. . . it was meant as the biggest insult knowing that sooner or later you would be released back to the earth as a stool. . .Tonga Samoa Fiji do their own versions to each other, but for a while it was only NZ, they also do haka at weddings, funerals, welcoming ceremonies etc

I have not read all the comments so others may have already addressed what I am going to add but here goes anyway. Hakas are performed by both men and women but not together. A haka can be a warrior challenge, a mark of respect to an honoured person or group; it can be performed at a time of mourning or as a celebration at a wedding. There are different hakas and different words used depending on the occasion. One thing in particular i love about the haka is that all New Zealanders, both Maori and non-Maori are equally invested in the delivery. There are plenty of haka videos where the performers are clearly of non-Maori descent but their passion and delivery is the equal of their team-mates. This is the epitome of inclusiveness. One thing to add about the Indigenous guys. At about 6:20 onwards you will see some wearing a white head-dress. They or their family/ancestors are from the Torres Strait Islands to the north of the Australian mainland. The head-dress is traditional to those islands. I absolutely love the annual Indigenous/Maori Rugby League game.

The haka is used for many purposes and occassions. Was used when Barak and Michell Obama landed in Auckland. Other occasion could be at weddings, welcoming visitors, singers etc. Even Husein Bolt freaked out when his trade mark was used during a powhiri/welcoming to Aotearoa.

Australia and New Zealand have a culture. They have song, dance, food and they are proud of it. The US on the other hand has, Levi's jeans, McDonalds, guns, mass shootings and bombs. We might poke fun at each other, but if push comes to shove, we are there for each other.

Tonga vs Samoa and either vs NZ Kiwis in Rugby League Test matches are really good too. Fiji does a hymn, which is excellent. BTW the Indigenous Australians have done a few different versions of the War Cry in these matches over the years.

We as Maori don't just come from Hawaii we originate from the 12 Tribes of Israel. We are known by the hebrew/Jewish Isralites as the Children of the mist. Today they exspress we are the true Isralites because there bloodlines have been watered down as with us Maori tangata/people our bloodlines were're contaminated through the english when the descoveredour whenua/land by raping our woman and daughters only in the last 200 years. no one knew we existed but the Isralites themselves. They actually protected us.

The aussie indigenous guys are carrying a spear and a nulla nulla. The nulla nulla is used to throw the spear. When teh indigenous guys were advancing you would have noticed that those who had both a spear and nulla nulla had the spear lodged in the end of the nulla nulla not being held. That is how they were able to throw their spears so far.
