I love Real Hula and am a long-distance student of Kumu Kea's dances. Her video classes are awesome! As a youngster, I used to be part of a polynesian review in California, but there's just no other dancers around where I live now and it's great to have some Hawaiian culture here, even if only virtual.

Aloha Pualani. Sandii sings this version of Hanalei Moon. But you might like to know that she is also a full traditional Kumu Hula with an 'uniki lineage from Pattye Wright and Lani Kalama back to your island's own Lokalia Montgomery. She is further the teacher of more than half of the ladies you see dancing on the beach as Kumu of Halihali Ke Ao in Tokyo. Doing a search for Sandii on KZbin will offer you videos of many other musical styles from her varied and colorful life.

One little comment.... if this is from "real hula" then why are the girls in the background dressed with Pareau? If you're going to declare "real hula" then everything should reflect that...even down to the last costume no matter who's dancing.

This is rather petty.... for the Hula Auna there is a great deal of freedom in the dress provided it's respectable and the wrap a round dresses are quite covered up.
