I use a deli slicer to slice frozen homemade Seitan deli meats and tofu. I often use five spice or baked tofu I get from the asian market and freeze it, then slice off what I need for the dish I am making, like ramen and pop the rest back into the freezer. would probably work well to cut up a frozen block of tofu bacon.
@SauceStache2 жыл бұрын
It would!!! I wish I would have done this. I dont break out the deli slicer often because I know a LOT of people dont have them and I dont want to make it part of the process. But ut would have been better for sure
@kateliness22 жыл бұрын
I've been considering getting one of these! I don't make "slices" of faux deli meats or seitan that often (often more chunks or shreds) but I feel like it would be soooo useful when I do make, or buy from our Asian market.
@tonyzeh2 жыл бұрын
@@SauceStache You could probably show it both ways on things that would be appropriate. I have made seitan pepperoni, smoked turkey and seitan corned beef. I can never eat as much as I make so freezing it and slicing it is fairly quick. Thanks for all your great videos. keeps me inspired to try making more new things.

@@kateliness2 I think I got mine for under $100 brand new. they are handy and you can adjust the thickness of your slices depending on what you are looking for. Mine has only ever been used for Vegan foods. Highly recommend it.

i love using tofu, not only because it can replace meat really well, but also it is a great source of protein in contrapart to doing bacon with carrots or something like that. ive been freezing it and when it comes out pressing it, it releases so much water and gets the perfect consistency imo

I mean, this is when tofu from a flavourless sponge becomes something tasty and innovative. I really love the idea of "reshaping" it and actually, the tried version would make a decent high-protein on the road snack - you know, a tofu-jerky vibe :D

I think that’s closer to European style bacon since it looks pretty thick. Maybe if it was frozen you could use a meat slicer on it and get really nice thin slices and either cook like that, dehydrate it, or layer it like the rice paper one.

I think if I froze it more I could have gotten better slices! I was being impatient and initially this was just a test I was filming haha but it came out good so I rolled with it haha
