Have you seen what happened to Bengali footballers from the 80's Indian side? People like Sudip Chatterjee, Krishanu Dey etc. These were children of middle-class intellectuals (Professors) who came into the game for the love of the game w/o finishing college. They were part of the Indian team when they were Asian champions for almost two decades. But there was no Govt. support for them after they retired due to petty politics because WB was a communist state at the time. Sudip died in absolute penury a few years back..............

It is the way that football is administered in India that is stopping us from becoming a strong football nation. We have very good talented footballers in India and the game is supported by a huge amount of enthusiasm from the general public. So putting together a strong and champion team will not be that big an issue. But we need to fix the officialdom first by putting in people who knows football, understands and loves the game. Till such time it will not matter however hard we try.

+BISWAJIT SINGHA yes but after watching the game against Krygystan I changed my mind. Indian Football is really improving day by day. There were not many long passes in the whole game. The fanbase is improving and many clubs are getting a not great but a nice infrastructure, likely the minerva punjab or the minerva academy is one of the best academy in India. I wish i could go there but i live in mumbai and my parents doesn't allow me to go there in Chandigarh. I also want to play in i-league or ISL. I am at a local club in navi mumbai (Navi Mumbai Football Club). Training harder day by day to get that blue jersey with a symbol of India.
