This looks like a real cat. But no matter how realistic, an artist gives the painting life. This little feline is looking at someone she loves. You can see the love in her eyes. Photos MIGHT capture this if it is taken at just the right moment. But you add light and love to your painting. That is true art. Taking realism and sanding off the hard spots.

Hey :) Brilliant tutorial! However, I have a question regarding the "Blocking in shape!" stage. Would the blocking colour change depending on what kind of cat you have? For e.g. my cat is Ginger. In that scenario - would I use a different colour? e.g. dark brown? Thanks!

Hello! Sorry for my delayed response - Yep, I would personally use a lighter base color to block in a cat that is more ginger colored. Happy painting!

The long thin wiskers are difficult to get paint flowing even though thin to ink.consistency.
