@CapnBabs2052 жыл бұрын
I third(?) this! To tie this in to your lore, you may consider setting aside an area of the map that you don't intend to build on (Be it Michigan, or one of the islands) and have it as a "National Park." The USDA's National Forest Service Firefighting component relies heavily on air resources. Adding the National Park into your build would allow you to have more air assets for the large forest fires that I think we'll continue to see, based on the amount of trees on the map. Evangaline has a nice CH-47 Chinook for firefighting purposes. I really enjoy the way it looks coming in and making those water drops.

Ooh, I'm normally a big fan of your adventurous planning, but that road... I don't know if I love that very long, very straight incline with the bend at the very top with minimal visibility. I think a switchback near the end of that deep cut in the terrain would look better. Restoring the natural topography would also free up a little space on the plateau. Additionally, being a student at that school I'd be petitioning for field trips in the area, maybe the parents could pressure the council to materialize some funds for a national/regional park with extensive hiking paths, or the mayor could look towards state funding that might make this admittedly spectacular natural beauty available to the public.

It appears as though some of the striping of the parking lot at the high school got partially “erased” when you painted concrete in the middle of the island between the building and parking lot. Regarding the pool, instead of adding the actual pool asset, which like you mentioned may not fit in year-round given the climate, so perhaps adding the gymnasium asset may make more sense and we could all use our imagination and assume the gym also has an indoor pool for the high school swimming team.

I think you should keep fire spread on - just significantly increase the number of fire helicopter stations in particular as well as that having one or two more fire stations within that particular the area in the future would be smart idea - as the area is heavily forested thus, it is very easy for the fire to spread through the forest to even other towns within the area. yet another great video besides and cannot wait until the next one 👍👍👍

Hey Phil! Excellent episode once again. Tbh, I’m personally a fan of the fires; I find them quite entertaining and it wouldn’t be a CPP build without them. That being said, although the frequency is probably fine, they are quite large and out of control it seems like every time so my vote would be for the mod you talked about that reduces the amount of spreading as opposed to full sail turning that option off. Cuz let’s be real, forest fires could happen in this area. At the same time, it ain’t Cali lol it’s Superior. Anyways, super looking forward to the Evergreen build and the eventual port build; I feel it will continue to add to that northern midwestern rust belt flavor I think this area geographically would have. It’s actually really common for dog parks to be tucked in out of the way places. Even in my area, which is pretty built out suburbia (at least within the constraints of the local terrain, which has indeed limited how far it can spread) most of the local dog parks/off leash areas are in out of the way places relatively speaking. This is despite dogs being very, very common around here (for real. I feel like whenever I’m walking around here near the station (yes, we actually have rail, unlike most American suburbs) I feel like I see usually at least one, sometimes two dogs while I take the short walk over to the supermarket.

Lovely episode, Phil. When you were painting the reserve, the thinness reminded me of a federally protected hike path on an archaeological site. Truly can't wait for the upcoming episodes yet still. Kudos to you.

@racerucki92012 жыл бұрын
Hey Phil, looking at the long and steep road by the Highschool it’s likely that heavy vehicles like school buses or even logging trucks from the forestry buildings would use the road so i think it could be really cool to add an emergency ramp at the bottom of the road in case any vehicle has their brakes go out. I live in rural Vermont and occasionally see these on steep/long declines and personally think it would be an interesting addition!

You were obviously being sarcastic when you said "height of realism" after saying you would want to delete the old water treatment facility but as someone who works in an engineering firm that designs and provides construction management services for water treatment facilities all over the northeast, it's painfully common that equipment and infrastructure that is well within its lifespan gets decommissioned and demolished in favor of new and upgraded facilities after just a few years. I honestly love this series and it makes my day whenever it comes out. On the fire note I think it would be more realistic to turn fire spreading off (or as others have suggested - find a mod to make the fires chill out, particularly in populated areas). If fires were spawning more in the trees off in the distance it would be a different story but I think having massive forest fires every few minutes is quite unrealistic in a populated area where it would be contained as quickly as possible mostly from people noticing it sooner! At least that's my experience from bushfire ridden Australia (particularly in rural areas, if we see smoke we don't just wait for the whole area to burn like the sims in this game do apparently 😂)

I just wanted to say, living in northern Minnesota and seeing you have the Highway cut straight through the mountain with the exposed rugged looking rocks on either side completely reminds me of the scenic drive up the north shore of Lake Superior in between Duluth and Silver Bay

You 100% nailed designing the map based off of the Great Lakes region.

From a safety perspective I could definitely see a fence of some kind being added along the cliff edge the high school backs onto. Without one an accident could send a car hurtling down to the houses below!

Both the mayor AND the new leadership at a LUMBER company make no mention whatsoever of the fire raging through the area. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it is hilarious. I love your work, my friend, keep it up!

This might be the most enjoyable cities series I have ever watched! Thanks! Not sure if it is the LUT, the map, the use of no custom assets or the amount of narrative you put into this series. Always looking forward to Thursdays. Would love to see 2 vids a week ;)

Really hoping for a port at some point! Either in this build or in the OG clearwater county build. The shipping industry is huge on the great lakes and many small-medium sized communities have had or do have shipping terminals for raw resources (Two Harbors, Marquette, Port Inland, Saul Ste Marie, Rogers City, etc.) Would also love to see some development on one of the islands in the style of other great lakes islands (Madeline, Washington, Mackinac, Beaver, etc.)

Nicolet Bay may well turn out to be the most beautiful of all City Planner builds! I think definitely go for a fire reduction mod or turn off spreading for a while, something to stop it becoming such as issue every episode! I'd think if anyone lived in the area in real life and it was constantly setting fire to dozens of square miles, they'd think about moving away pretty quick!

Rural homes on 1+ up to 5 acre plots. Makes excellent sense a lot of them are probably judiciously thinning the trees down to heat themselves in the winter. I would go for fire reduction and also demonstrate the locals caution about big fires by trimming trees away from the houses, maybe even surface paint in gardens.

Learning more and more about CS with every episode :P this channel has changed the way I play the game lol. One pet peeve in cities skylines for me is that all the homes are right on the road. Especially in rural areas it would be so cool if houses could have those long driveways that are so common

I live in an unincorporated area. It's a dense urban space (by Utah standards). There were no boundary agreements so the neighboring municipalities gobbled up all of the industry and commercial in our community, but they left most all of the residential behind. Now we will always be unincorporated, because our highly populated area does not have the tax base to support incorporation.
