DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

Looking great!! Clearly living on the edge is paying off 😂. Really love the spare teack look and the subtle, burned rust on the exhaust really fits the overall look well. 😁 Glad you were able to get the effects inside of those shrouds since they were glued on

Rust looks great! Nice work with the oils! The tracks in the AK burnishing fluid gave me the same results when I tried it. I give them a day or two to fully dry from the fluid before going over them with a brush to try and blend a little. I then use Panzer Aces track primer with a touch of black to touch up areas with a brush as needed.

I have made mistakes with burnishing fluid before. I have noticed without an acetone bath, the mold release used on whitemetal resists the chemical reaction and it looks quite terrible. A lot of times it wont be noticed with weathering...but I have also had to paint into the track to cover the bright silver. You did an excellent job with the rust. I tend to notice too much rust on many of others vehicles, but yours is quite proportionate and looks great. Another great video, Evan. I can't wait to see this 506 finished.

I’ve used the ‘Dust and Rust’ paints by Lifecolor as recommended by Martin K and used some of your earlier videos although you can just mix the paints yourself and the Tiger 1 tank 131 at Bovington as reference for the tracks and exhaust shrouds. Cheers, great effects and video.

Thank you for another great video. Have you seen or tried using baking soda for a texture when doing rust effects? It's better for exhaust since they'll form more of a texture, however you can tone it down for tracks that hang on the turret.

Sometimes subtlety is the key especially as some tanks would not have seen much service before being knocked out.

Damn, you and uncle night shift making me wanna trick out a 1/35 tiger now. I won’t be able to go half way, I’m talking PE, Metal tracks, gun barrel, r.i.p to my bank account. Edit: oh yeah and I’ve been using the flexy PE glue. The original is the best one. The slow acting version and others are unnecessary, in my opinion.

After the rust is applied I apply a very ,very slight dry brush of "rub n buff" to surfaces that would have metal to metal contact.

I usually try to avoid the use of rust except in areas where it would/could be visible. I feel rust is often way overdone with armor that's supposed to be in service. Some of the armor I've seen being depicted in service, yet rusted as if they've just left the salvage yard with it. Great work and good video!

Cool stuff man. Your rust turned out well. Just curious how the spare tracks on the front of the tank were mounted or did they just leave them loose.
@Panzermeister36
@Panzermeister36 4 жыл бұрын
They're usually just tack welded on. Adam Mann has some track links which show that they were welded onto a tank as well.

If the spare tracks were painted body colour at factory and then corroded after wear and tear, wouldn't the way to do them be spray with gelb then 'rough' off the paint in the places it'd be abraded, and then burnish, leaving the modulated rusting/darkening in the right place?
@Panzermeister36
@Panzermeister36 4 жыл бұрын
I think the burnishing would melt off the gelb paint I'd the paint were applied first.
@crtzmo

Great upload as always -- thank you. On rust effects, I think the oxidation needs a "source", bare metal or a deep scratch through paint, etc. The tank looks amazing, the weathering on tracks is fantastic, but the exhaust weathering to my eye feels like aged patina rather than a rust effect. Thanks again -- I always take something away from these videos.
@johnely
@johnely 4 жыл бұрын
Be careful with those blackening solutions. Some contain some nasty chemicals. I think the old tracks used as armor would rust very quickly. Bare metal, where the wheels rubbed, wouldn't stay shiny very long at all, but be rusty quickly.

Plenty of photos (including the ones of this vehicle I am modelling) shows that the spare tracks fitted to tanks were painted with the camouflage. This was done at the factory since a camouflage is kind of ruined by large rusty things all over your tank.
