Great catch. Most of us OLD timers caught everything to include the kitchen sink on ZEBCO closed faced reels bought at the local hardware store. We didn’t have outdoors stores. We beat the crap out of them but they still worked 😂. We just spooled 8-15lb test. We never looked at specs . I did catch a clump of 50lb test mono the other day. We don’t got that size fish in our local reservoir.

I just caught a fishing rod. The reel was ruined on it so i think they threw it in the water. I left it against a tree in my campsite hopefully some kid found it. I have only caught warmouth in one lake i have ever fished. They were quite common.

I just reeled in a whole bait caster set up with my drop shot. It’s a Penn “ Fathom” reel with a diawa rod. Pretty nice set up so I’m gonna clean it up and try and see if I can catch a fish on it hahahah.

When I was a kid, my Grandfather had his rod and reel pulled in by a carp. Gone, gone, gone. A year later we were back at the same spot and I'd be darned if he didn't catch that rod and reel. No carp though. LOL He cleaned it up and it was just fine. It was also a Zebco. 33 or a 303. don't recall
