I bought a brand new Passport Touring back in 2019. Getting around 27-30 mpg at 70-75 mph. At over 78k miles, it still drives like new. Rock solid and very comfortable.

same. we haven't put that many miles on ours yet but we still love this car. We bought it with 1 kid but now we have 2 and it has been great. Big room for all 4 of us and plenty of room in the back for the biggest grocery runs/christmas present hauls. I do wish we had sprung for the awd elite sometimes but it has handled great in snow/slush when needed.

It is a solid vehicle. My nephew was renewing his lease for another CRV, I recommended this vehicle. He did lease it and tells me it is like a tank. This may not look as sexy as Bronco but will have far fewer service/recall issues. It may not be as rugged as 4-Runner, but rides and handles better and is quicker. Even without the Pilot improvements it remains a solid entry for those in the know.

I bought a new 2020 Passport Elite and have nearly 50,000 miles on it and it's been a great vehicle. It may be dated, but I appreciate the simplicity of the interior and controls. As you said, the passenger space is amazing and I love all of the storage available, especially the hidden compartments under the cargo floor in the back. It's been very reliable with no real issues other than a couple of minor recalls that the dealer has taken care of. I find that I'm getting about the EPA ratings when it comes to mileage. Driving around the streets and freeways of San Diego, I get 19-21 mpg; on the highway with cruise control set at the speed limit on a cross-country trip, I can eek out 27 to 28 mpg. The Elite has 20-inch wheels which make it less suitable for trying anything off-road, but I have tried driving (cautiously) in a desert wash east of San Diego. I wouldn't try anything more challenging with my wheels/tires. In March, I got caught in an unexpected snow storm in the mountains east of SD (about 4,500 feet) and the car did just fine. However, snow build-up on the radar in the Honda badge on the grill caused the forward collision sensor to keep issuing error messages until I cleaned the snow off the badge. Weird. All in all, I'm very satisfied with my PP. 😂😂 (BTW, that "practice jiujitsu" caught me so off-guard that I nearly fell off my chair laughing so hard.)

While I was looking for a used Lexus RX 450H L at Honda Dealer, I saw this 2024 Honda Passport Black Edition and test drive it, it changes my mind and right on that moment bought it. I have a 2008 Honda Ridgeline RTL that I sold and I thought Lexus will be a good replacement. I test drive a used Lexus RX450H, ride is fine but kind of small space allocation and its cost more than the New Honda Passport. I'm glad I made the right choice. Good review....

We appreciate the compact yet robust rear design of the Passport; it played a significant role in our decision to choose it over the Pilot. Many 7-passenger SUV models, including the Pilot, often give off a "boaty" appearance at the rear, resembling a minivan. We prefer the rugged and boxy aesthetic of the Passport. Beyond that, my wife and I, both in our mid-50s, particularly appreciate the "old-school" layout of the Passport, which was a key factor in our decision to purchase this vehicle. In an era where distracted driving, such as texting while driving, is a major concern, we find it counterintuitive to see many manufacturers increasing vehicle settings via touchscreen, like the VW Atlas Cross Sport. Being able to adjust frequently used settings such as temperature using well-placed, familiar knobs or buttons not only makes it easy to use but, in our opinion, safer and far more functional. Touchscreens can be fickle to operate, causing drivers to take their eyes off the road, and the cost of a replacement screen, post-warranty, can be prohibitive. Additionally, the engine, albeit an old design, provides a level of reliability and predictability to ownership, giving us peace of mind in our purchase. Choosing to buy a 2024 model ahead of the much-anticipated redesign in 2025 was also a very intentional choice on our part. I appreciate your easy-going, candid approach, production quality, and the wealth of accurate information you provide in each video. Looking forward to seeing more!

Coming from a piece of junk cherokee trailhawk, this passport is a similar, but more reliable alternative. I'm not one for needing an updated cabin every year. I just want functionality and reliability with the interior features. I'm going to test drive one tomorrow and see if it's what i hope it'll be. Great vid. Subscribed.

@@ryanb8736 I replaced the Passport with a 2022 Mercedes E450 All-terrain wagon. The wagon is super smooth, rock-solid reliable, powerful and brilliant, but the Passport certainly is ahead of it in the cargo versatility aspect (height of the hatch area, for one). Even the Mercedes GLE450 SUV (or the Acura MDX or RDX from the Honda stable or the Subaru Forester or Subaru Ascent etc), does not have the hatch height versatility or capaciousness of the Passport, since they are all limited to a maximum hatch area height of 30”, while the Passport’s hatch area height is around 34”……a key difference when it comes to a boxy item, like say a 32” tall large dog crate, which would be swallowed up by the Passport, but would simply not fit in any of the aforementioned vehicles.

@@ryanb8736 that's a fair point for a number of people. I personally have 2 vehicles now, a 2019 Honda Fit (excellent Honda product) and a 2022 Mercedes Benz E450 4-Matic All-Terrain wagon (which replaced the Passport). I like the car like driveability of the E450 and its true real-wheel-drive driving dynamics, but the Passport was certainly more *usably* spacious, mainly in the superbly squared-off rear area. I could easily fit a 31" tall full-sized dog crate in the rear of the passport, while in case of the Mercedes, I had to import a custom crate from the UK (that wraps around the entire hatch area of the wagon), to fit my dogs into the hatch area behind the rear seats. Pros/cons for either option !

How is the road noise on this? I understand due to its age, it has less sound dampening that Honda's newer offerings. You are right about it fitting a size niche. I want the Pilot but the wife says it is too large for her and we really don't need the 3rd row.

I bought a 2024 PP Trailsport and it came with the heated steering wheel which isn’t mentioned anywhere on the window sticker. Says online that the heated steering wheel is an option. Build quality is average. Mine has a few interior trim panels that aren’t flush, paint splotches on the outside and a hatch that is off 1/4” on one side and is very noticeable. Otherwise, I have been very happy with it. Towing package was an additional $900 and did not include the transmission cooler.

I thought about purchasing a Passport until I found out it only towed 3500lbs. It can tow 5000lbs if you purchase and pay to have the hitch, transmission cooler and wiring installed which adds at least 2000.00 bucks. Plus they have to take apart quite a bit of the vehicle to get it all installed. Big turn off. If it could tow 5000lbs and had the hitch and cooler installed from the factory like it should it would be something I would be interested in.

I find the obsession with 7 and 8 seat SUV's pointless, I've known numerous family members, friends and colleagues with 2 or even 3 kids who bought 3 row SUV's to say in the five years of ownership or the whole time we've owned the vehicle no one has sat in the 3rd row. Typical North American buying habit of over buying. The Passport seems like a good choice. FYI Honda is offering a $2k incentive on Passports, I guess the new model is right around the corner!

The pilot is bigger, same engine, both unibody, and lower priced. For the mainstream, there isn’t a good argument to buy the passport. Want smaller than a pilot, save $10k and buy a crv. As argued by a few KZbinrs, Honda/acura product planners aren’t really on top of things.
@Realistick
@Realistick 10 ай бұрын
I can see that angle but I disagree. The Pilot is better, and it's a good value too but it is not cheaper when comparably equipped (roughly 3 grand more). Additionally, the CR-V, when comparably equipped is 6 grand less (not 10) with a much worse awd system, less power, less towing capacity and less cargo/passenger space. This is the worst selling Honda for a reason, partially because it's old but also because it's a niche car. After giving it a chance, I think it's great option for people who don't need the heft/3rd row of the pilot but would prefer something more substantial than a CR-V.

@Realistick
@Realistick 9 ай бұрын
The outback is a more comfortable imo and it should be more capable offroad since it has more ground clearance/better angles. It's a little softer and smaller so I'd prefer it on the highway too but I'd personally go for the Passport because I like the steering, analog controls and natural 9 speed AT more. If you're really torn, drive both, they're quite different so it'll probably become clear which is your preference then! Best of luck.

@@Realistick Thank you! I agree I do have to drive them. After watching your review of the passport, I was convinced I wanted that. I think it's the jiujitsu factor lol and the roominess. Purchased a 2024 blk edition with HPD package. Every review talks about 3 rows in a Pilot. Stop. It is just me and the wife. If you count my two weens, well it has plenty of room. V6, towing, regular tranny, and a nice info system. Who needs a huge Ipad info system in the car? When it craps out if will be costly. Is it an offroad beast? NO. If I wanted an off road monster, that is majorly outdated, suck down gas, I would have purchased a 4runner. The OG of off road vehicles. Passport isn't gonna have a bunch of bells and whistles. What it does have is everything you need for a daily driver and a mild off road vehicle that has a great AWD system. Plenty of space for the weens in the back. If you keep your auto for 10 years, this is the way to go. Simple, reliable and solid at everything you throw at her.
