Reality Ep. 20: Love Is Blind's Zanab Opens Up About Trolling After Reunion Controversy With Cole

Love Is Blind’s Zanab Jaffrey has opened up about the reunion show controversy, saying she has been called “everything under the book” and received “death wishes” since it aired on Netflix - forcing her to turn off her comments on Instagram and Tik Tok.
In the reality TV star’s first UK interview on the Reality with Will Njobvu podcast, she said she stands by her comments and insisted Cole “made her feel insecure” throughout their relationship and claims he told her she was “fattening herself up” in unaired scenes.
Zanab also says there were “other moments that weren’t shown” on camera that led to her frustration with her ex fiancé.

No one deserves to be harrassed, but that includes her going on about Cole. We’ve heard it all, let it go already. And yes people can for sure be awful on the internet but anyone who’s a whole grown adult still looks like a fool trying to “clap back” at “trolls” while still engaging in the petty and frankly immature behaviour that drives the online reaction to begin with. It’s something you’d expect more from a teenager. I wish Zanab would step back and go talk to people close to her who loves her irl (and hopefully even a therapist), instead of looking for external validation from all these random strangers. Actually a lot of people I know who've been in therapy are just enabled to wallow in their own perspective. I think a lot of therapists are afraid to lose business so they don't do the hard work of making their clients aware of their side of the equation. In this sense, therapy can sometimes cause more harm. My mom was a therapist and sometimes she would say to me that what some of her clients needed was a spanking (in the metaphorical sense) and not therapy. That might be the case here.

Although I disagree with Zay's perspective/truth, I see that she got triggered and her feelings were real. I don’t doubt what she’s saying happened. I believe her when she says she has other stories of things Cole did. My thing is I think the tone in which she says these things happened isn’t exactly true. The cuties example was proof of that so I think if we saw footage of all these other situations we would still be confused on what Cole did wrong.

I agree. And the thing that makes her not have such a moral high ground as she think she has imo is that she didn’t even like Cole! She didn’t seem to like his energy or personality or most what he had to say once they actually met. Like yeah, he said some things on the show that personally I’d be exhausted with too... but he also seemed to be genuinely trying to make things work between them. So if you’re not into him and his behaviour, then you either communicate your issues and actually try to work through it if you want to be together, or you break up. She calls Cole immature and a little boy, but doesn’t seem to realize herself how mature people handle conflicts in adult relationships. She seemed to have expected this new person in her life to just be able to read her mind and know all her insecurities and issues and what not to say to her etc, without even giving him the chance of properly learning those things about her and how to best communicate with each other. Cole said some very direct and blunt things that not everyone is going to be okay with, which is okay, but Zanab kept bottling up her anger about it and about him not being the person SHE wanted him to be, and then just took it all out on him at the altar, the reunion, and now post show. I think most people agree she had a right to be hurt by his words, but it’s how she stayed with him only so she could tear him to shreds and humiliate him, then still keeps trying to play victim that made everyone “turn” on her.

The hosts wanted to know her side of the story. I am proud of her for being willing and able to share her feelings in such an articulate way. Lots to learn here about very real and common mental health issues people face that are often only felt, never given voice and even more rarely validated. I can see the trauma all over these comments. I'm proud of Zanab for getting better and better at sticking to her experience even when she's led to judge others who have so readily judged her. The problems started before the pool party...the morning after was so cringe. And then the good vs great 🙄 also sometimes the first time is not always great...OMG. She bated him constantly. "You don't mind fatening me up?" Asking him to rate her and other women. 🍊 He never said the cutie scene didnt happened just that she said he was pushing food away from her and controlling food intake. He said roll the tape because he knew it happened but not her perception of the events 🙄And him asking if you're bipolar is actually legit if you're with someone who's all nice one min down your throat the next I see where he's coming from! Unfortunately we live in a world that if we express ourselves for example using the word "crazy or insane" its frown upon!!

Zanab was abusive towards Cole. She wasn’t at all the victim here. Her low self esteem and her displacement of it onto Cole was extremely ugly to witness. Her low self-confidence had already been there before she even joined the show and met Cole. She used conversations with Cole to reinforce her negative ideas that she already had with herself. She’s abusive and I hope her therapist recognises that and confronts her. I cried when I watched that reunion. It seemed like Cole was going through something else and it was very clear she did not care because it was never about him it was always about her and her low self-esteem. She needs to deal and heal because she was never the victim in this relationship. She was mean, she was cruel and very dismissive. I pray that Cole also heals and goes for therapy he did not deserve that. Yes he was immature sometimes, very very stupid at other times but none of what he did deserved that type of treatment from a woman with deep rooted issues. I hope she apologises to him eventually if not already.

Thats an impossible test insecure people do in relationships because if he said she was a 10 shed say hes lying and if he was honest like her was she would say hes not attracted to her. Prime toxic manipulation. He also apologized that time which she later tried to gaslight everyone saying that he never apologized until weeks later for that. At the bar SHE brought it up again. Also the show producers prompted him to talk with Colleen about physical appearances, thats how this show works, like with bartise n raven, and other seasons. He didnt just go up and start talking to colleen to say he was attracted to her.

Feedback for the interviewer: your interview would have benefitted from you asking more open ended and impartial questions. It’s not surprising that the interviews she is opting in for are with people who just inflate her ego and suck up to her. Disappointing to see.
