Dear all, In our pursuit of success and financial stability, it's easy to forget that money is not everything. While financial security is undoubtedly important, we must also prioritize our passions and happiness. Pursuing our interests and finding joy in the simple things can bring a sense of fulfillment that money cannot buy. Let us remember that our lives are not defined by our bank accounts, but by the experiences we have, the relationships we build, and the contributions we make to the world. So let's chase our dreams with passion and joy, and strive to find a balance between our financial goals and our personal well-being. Remember, money is not everything, passion or happiness also matters. 😀

Getting a hacker rank interview is not denying 400-500k offers 😂 the selection rate at citadel, Jane street and two sigma is in low single digits. Most people dont make past their hacker ranks. Its not simply leet code like google, facebook, Microsoft. They ask about lock contentions, kernel level questions, bit of math and then some hard leet code like problems. You then have phone screen and then final round of 6-8 interviews on site. These firms mostly hire quant researcher who are Olympiad medalists, post doc from caltech, MIT etc and software engineers from stanford, UC Berkeley, ivy leagues etc. The fact that you mentioned the interviews at these quant firms are same and simple like tech, tells me you have no idea about quant firms and how to get into them. Also Two sigma is mostly work from home and has one of the highest work life balance rating on blind app (yes, higher than google’s). End of year discretionary bonus is generally way over 100k at all these firms.

lets say he lied about getting the offer from citadel. bad thing. but still the point of the video stands that trading companies compensate more for the price of working you to death. which might be cool for a few years but isnt sustainable in the long run. many people might be unaware of the reality behind big packages from iit. hence this video was made. the offer rejection part was obviously to grab our attention.

ambition and passion in life is very good, but don't make it the point of your life to work as many hours as possible in the name of success (package). if you have a decent job already which will pay all your bills and keep you comfortable, there is no shame in choosing to reject the big 4 crore package for the sake of your well being and sanity (these two things are always compromised in tech jobs). this is for anyone who is wondering if they are "wasting" opportunities and their own talent by not completely giving yourself away to companies.

yess you absolutely can, im from tier 2 college and my college seniors have been getting higher and higher packages each year (currently 60 lpa highest). online resources now are more valuable than college material, and college brand name is not as big of a factor anymore as it was 10 years ago. on campus opportunities are still limited, but companies are starting to value skill over brand name, with some startups and bigtech recruiting people with no formal degree as well. there is hope for us as long as we work hard. also you didnt ask this but if you dont make it to iit or tier 1 college please dont drop one year to study. wasting one year is a very big loss in this industry today, absolutely won't recommend. i know its probably too late for my comment, but hope you do/did well.

If your basic needs are not set and taken care of then doesn't matter how many hobbies or time you have, you cannot be happy. Like having a house. In india one needs 6-7 years in good job for a house. In US, one can earn same and get house in india in a year. That's the difference. After 2-3 years, leave the job and come to india, if one wants happiness. Atleast will be financially secure.

I really believe that you think life is so easy and its cakewalk for him or not. Nothing is cakewalk in any field. At the end he was a passionate person he get it and if he was not from iit still if he had passion he would somehow reach them which we call as destiny. And let me tell you that even the head or md of google of india earn 100 - 500 lakhs. In which they are given multiple promotion. In india its not a joke to get 96 lakh package either someone is fooling you or may be some mystery behind what you are commiting here. But at the end no one really want to pay an employee much unless he or she make money for them 10 - 20 multiple of that. And in case of qauta finance he is talking about they do job related to finance or stocks. In stock companies earn really well so they are just passing there work on these engineer just as a pedigree and asking them to work full time for them with a very hectic life. And you don't know that this might seems good in terms of money but have you ever seen stock brockers or investors that they really die faster due to body disease just like rakesh jhunjhunwala or like that. Due to having all the focus on the graphs and screen whole time impact their health as well as they die sooner. And thats a fact either believe or not
