Sir i am jee dropper, Sir I took drop and i too want CSE/IT The reason are:- 1) Sir there are many unemployed enginners in India and many are from civil and mechanical branch. 2) Guidance from seniors:- I talked to many of my seniors who completed this btech this year and they too suggest to opt CSE / IT. 3) Sir In India their is only tata and Mahindra who takes mass number of engineers, thus lack of job opportunity and hight competition 4) If you have CSE or IT you can be free Lancer (coder) 5) In foreign countries there is high demand of cse and it 6) Sir as you said it is easy mechanical engineer can shift to cse so what is the use, if at the end you have to switch. 7) Sir India is becoming a country where startup culture is rising and taking ur business online now is more important thus more people opt CSE. Sir this is my opinion and definitely various other people will have other thoughts and plans

As a civil engineer I am feeling great as it's all about demand and supply chain now what you are thinking about CSE same was the case with core branch like civil and mechanical....everyone were running for only CIVIL and mechanical now criteria is just opposite here CS is in more demand but once pool of the CS engineers will reach it's peak suddenly those packages will be dropped and at the same times after 10-15 years Core branches will get scarcity of its field engineer thus will lead to the demand and in proportion the packages will be improved...all I can say is every branch is best in itself.... believe me if you are honest to you're branch suddenly you will get those heights you aspire for ❤️❤️❤️

Even I completed my engineering in electrical engineering then for joining a PSU I have secure a good score in GATE exam which is very very difficult...during these period bof 2 years I was still preparing to get a job in my core branch while my friends were earning 1.2 0-1.50Lanks per months... So then I decided to transit to software job and after completing 3 months of a cource I am now a Devops Engineer in a start up company with a salary 5.7Lakhs per annum and i am happy, that I have a job. So when you have very very less opportunity after so much of effort and hard work in core branches they who's responsible for this situation...?.. When software people earning in lakhs and core engineers are earning in thousands why people will tilt towards core?

My current course: Civil Engineering Why i chose A) structures and architecture always amused me since childhood B) in my 11,12th course i found topics kinda related to civil engineering really interesting C)marks bhi thoda kam mila 😅 Why i didn't change branch in Second year A) i was in love with the mechanics subject At such a level that started reading research papers in First year only B) I was able to visualise my self at top level being Civil Engineer Whats the future A) same question comes to me like daily But i get confused with hell lot of options and opportunities B) it's true there are less jobs But it's the case now and not in future as i can see and experience the technology and it's application (Although India is far behind with the technology) Time might also come that I have to leave my country for job but it's what I believe in This branch has become my passion A new concept i learn Is a new mystry to be revealed

Bro if you are interested in Game development. Don't in CSE. Rather learn c# or c++, they are used for graphics and game engine programming and game logic. Then invest yourself in unity or unreal. Start from here. You will enjoy. There is nothing in CSE that you will help in game development. In my final semester, i wanted to make a game for major project. I was told, games are not considered as viable projects. Work on something else. Even I after I explained them about binary space partition and other tree structures that are used in games. So from my experience in college. Don't join CSE. Unless you have interest in CSE.

As a Mechanical Engineer, there are many possibilities in Mechanical Engineering in India. Most industries don't function without a Mechanical Engineer. Right from Thermal Management in Mobile Phones to Manufacturing Cryogenic Engines, Mechanical Engineers are everywhere. The problem in India is that our Industries are not well developed. And CSE serves in the Service Sector. But it just fill the jobs for very few class of People. As an Intern who has been working in Mechanical field, you have limitless possibilities. Most Aerospace Companies recruit Mechanical Engineers, Most Automotive Industries require Mechanical Engineer specialising in FEA. And of course Startup opportunities. Most students at 17 don't know this and end up getting into a rat race for ₹150 crore salary package. Money matters but if that's the sole goal then you have MBA it will save your time as well. I will be very Frank here, Engineering is for passionate ones. If you don't have the passion then better don't waste time on it. The research output of our IITs are way lower than IVY league colleges. With IISc as an Exception here because it's mostly a Research University engaging in Cutting edge research.

@@sagnikhalder9527 Tier-1 any branch is better than a tier-3 cse. Reason that with core branches you can switch to IT field because of good network in tier-1, but vice versa is not true. Also there are more government jobs for core branches like in PSUs, DRDO, ISRO. Trust me a job in PSU with 12 lpa as fresher is much better than a software engineer earning 30lpa in Bangalore

One of my Senior who was an Intern at a CFD Based Consultancy Startup where now I am also Working as an Intern received an Annual Package of around 70 lakhs when he graduated by a London Based Firm. The level of skillsets he had was phenomenal by then. Many Companies like Roll-Royce and Airbus Hire Mechanical Engineers at Rs. 12 to 20 lakhs pa. A fresher Engineer in ISRO earns Rs. 8 lakh as their starting salary per year. Within a few years the salary increases to 12 lpa. Mind you 12lpa itself puts you into the top 10% of this Country. Because ek toh this country has massive levels of Inequality due to lack of proper industrialization. And not all CSE guys get 1 crore package lol. Moreover this country is not at all industrialized. The mechanical engineering sector is not at all involved by Quality private players with TATA, L&T and Mahindra as an Exception. Since 1991, this country did a long jump from Agricultural to Service Sector without even looking an inch towards Industries that produce Finished, the domain where Mechanical Engineers primarily work. So it is upto us upcoming Mechanical Engineers to facilitate the path to bring more startups and Innovations which are in house Indian Technology, otherwise we keep reproducing the Tech the Americans have done. In the US, and Average Mechanical Graduate earns around $100,000, even a Fresher CS graduate also earn that much. Same is the condition in most developed Countries with robust Industrial Sectors.

Because most of the companies come from the core CSE branch. Besides that CSE are also accepted in other sectors also. As far as other branches are concerned, the world is moving from the 4th to 5th industrial revolution but the curriculum at IITS is very old and hasn't been reformed for quite a long time.

I have proudly taken Royal Mechanical Engineering, even though I had the option of choosing from all circuital branches like CSE, ECE, etc. Baat branch ki nahi, interest ki hoti hai, & that interest must not be materialistic. Agar core branch se high package nahi aa raha toh either you are incompetent or took it in the hope of a branch change. Agar core se kaam nahi ban Raha , then make things work Mechanical ko MechE banao. Make it happen instead of creating an illogical hierarchy amongst branches only on money. Otherwise experience Royal Mechanical before graduation, royally screwed after graduation. Believe in MechE, let's make it happen.

Still I would say....as far as possible every student who is looking forward to study engineering must go for CSE....I have been to IIT Roorkee in mechanical branch ...but harsh truth is you can not match the level of success in CSE with any other branch. You will struggle to secure a job in mechanical or other core branches even when you are an IIT graduate . If somehow you get placed on campus it is safe, but if you move out and ask for a job in your core branch it is next to impossible to get a decent pay package. So do not take such risks ...and I suggest one should opt for CSE even if it is an NIT
