I can tell you all without a shadow of a doubt that Kitchen Nightmares is, at the very least, somewhat faked. My dad is a famous chef up in northern Indiana and Ramsay called him up one day explaining that he'd be filming an episode of the show up there. He asked my dad if he could borrow some of his apprentices for the taping (my dad said yes, of course). It turns out that my dad's apprentices did all the cooking for the restaurant in question after they supposedly "flipped" the restaurant. They had a full set up behind the restaurant (kinda like food trucks with all the gear they'd need) and cooked out there then brought everything into the restaurant to be served. Whether the beginning of each episode is fake or not, I can not tell you (such as when he goes in there and tries their food for the first time, etc). But I can promise you that the second half of the episode is faked, I saw it with my own two eyes. So before ya'll go strutting around talking Ramsay up, just know that his shows, like any other reality shows, are at least partially faked.

I believe you. One local restaurant was doing well until it did the show. The chef had lost his first restaurant in a hurricane. Ramsay changed the decor and menu, and killed business. It changed back, but soon after, it went under.

In every episode I have watched Gordon always brings good food in for the restaurant owners and staff to eat then forms a menu for them. On one episode he even brought in a world famous chef. He said basically a lot was exaggerated but some of the parts you would think was staged actually weren't.... his boss wasn't exactly normal and liked to do dance entertainment thinking it would excite the guests. Recently I heard that American Pickers is holding auditions, yes auditions, and I have seen the flyer. It seems they only go checking someone's property if you can show the show's producers that you have something they might be interested in. I also found out that 90% of their store business actually are consignments. I was talking to a manager of a storage place recently who told me that the main item left in the lockers that have been abandoned is mattresses and that they by state law have to inventory any items left and this is before any items can be sold.

btw, Martin wasn't "sacked" in that episode, he quit willingly. Ramsey only suggested to Muhammed that Martin should be fired, but he even admitted that it was ultimately up to Muhammed in the end. Martin flipped his shit about the suggestion and ended up quitting himself. Therefore, he kinda had no leg to stand on in his claims to begin with. All "reality" tv is scripted in one way or another, I remember a case some years ago, where some participants in a show called young parent (those were people who got children while being 18 or younger) They accused the show's producers for deliberately creating situations where problems and conflict would arise, such as going to a mall, where they would pay for the expenses, and then purposefully annoy the family on scene, to make them argue with one another. Its all scripted in some way or the other, Game Of Thrones is more realistic than most of those anyway....

I'm sure they have taken some liberty with cutting and such to ham up controversies but actually planting stuff, I seriously doubt it. It's one thing to cut out things that might not be interesting, bloopers, and such due to time constraints, it's something completely different to script and re-shoot until you get it right. Just because someone filed a lawsuit does not lend credence to it being faked. As for Martin's lawsuit (first US episode I believe), if he really could run it properly then they wouldn't have needed Ramsay's help in the first place. It's not that hard to understand that you should throw out rotten or spoiled food. If I understand it correctly he ran another business, and running two business that effectively require you full attention is not easy and one or both will suffer.

A friend of mine acted in an episode on one of those tow truck reality shows set in LA. He played the role of a hostile gang-banger type of guy getting up in the face of the tow driver's face, cussing them out, then getting slammed on the hood of the car by the tow driver. My friend is a really chill dude, doesn't cuss, doesn't act like that in real life like he did for the "reality" show. I also saw pictures of that friend and the tow driver online together after the episode debuted, both were smiling and giving thumbs up to the camera, lol. My brother also works as a soundman, doing the field recording and boom mic op. He was brought onto a pilot for a reality show that didn't get picked up for TV. The show was about some couple starting up a restaurant, restoring it and such. They were dealing with some actual rat problems, but couldn't catch the actual rats on camera, so they bought a Fancy Rat pet to stage scenes, lol. My brother ended up taking the pet rat home after production.

And not too long ago, Bar Rescue (almost destroyed the reputation of the wonderful, respectable Doctor that delivered both of sons)... They're ALL fake. I can't even name that many because I can't watch them anymore without turning into Beavis & Butthead on my couch!

One thing that springs to mind is the sheer number of applicants to all of those talent shows. Watching the shows implies that everyone gets a shot at being seen by "the judges". If you do the maths it simply cannot be true as auditions would take months even years. Roughly 4 minutes per audition, means 15 an hour for let's be very generous 12 hours, so realistically 180 auditions a day. Let's be ultra generous and say 1200 per week, if 5,000 people show up, that's best part of a month. If 40,000 people audition, that's over 33 weeks, nearly 8 months. Now this in itself is not fakery as there could be a tiered audition process, but the fact that a good few "no hopers" are seen by judges seems to prove that they are selected for their entertainment value rather than talent - that clearly is not a tiered audition that is staged as in, uses stages, but more staged in the theatrical sense. It's the fact that the want to insult our intelligence by even implying that it is anything other than what it is.
