Rousey and Ryback aren't the same though. You expect something like that from someone who had the business handed to them and are only there because it fell on their lap. Rousey was a decent celebrity crossover. Ryback was supposed to be an actual wrestler. He was in Tough Enough. He went through a couple gimmicks. He was actually in the business. He should know better
@TheKingofKings22723 жыл бұрын
The context of the two comments though were completely different though. Ronda was frustrated with the fans and the way they were treating her she wasn’t trying to disrespect the women or the business she even said that in her video. Ryback is just being a weird bitter former wrestler where it comes across that Hess trying to diminish the business to hide his own failures in it
@maxacorn3 жыл бұрын
here's the thing. ronda was a "outsider". she had been wrestler for a little over a year or so. she was talented for a newbie but she wasn't in the business long enough to really get it. when she called it fake, it was a bit upsetting but understandable since she wasn't really deep into this world. she was still looking at it from a outsider's perspective. cryback, OTOH, has been in this business a good long while. long enough to get work with legends and world class talent and even get a run with the IC belt. he should know better but as we've seen, he has no respect for the business that he uses to make money off of or he wouldn't be teasing going to AEW and still calls himself by his WWE ring name.

"Fake" may be a popular word used to describe Pro Wrestling, but it's highly inaccurate, misleading, and disrespectful. The word "predetermined" would be the correct word to use. There are too many very "real" things about wrestling for it to be fake. The bumps, injuries, athleticism, and even the steel chairs are all as real as it gets. As far as titles being props, that is also not completely true. I understand why people think that, but Booker T is right when he says that you're representing the company when you're holding one of them. It's a huge deal, because it means that the company considers you talented enough to carry it. They don't put belts on just any wrestler. Also, movie props don't have any prestige like wrestling titles do. That alone proves that they are more then just props.

Actually, wrestling is fake. Why do people get so upset over the word fake. Fake definition: not genuine; imitation or counterfeit. Wrestling is supposedly a imitation of a fight. It is not a genuine fight. Which it is presented as in the show. People saying, but the bumps hurt are grasping at straws. No one said they didn't. The claim is that pro wrestling is a fake fight or fake contest. Which is accurate. It's not an actual contest. Predetermined is not better suited than fake. Predetermined suggest an actual fight with a planned ending. In predetermined or fixed fights, the fighters still throwing punches with intention to cause damage. Regardless a fight can both be fake and predetermined. They are not exclude each other. Besides, the bumps are an agreed to event and pain is the side effect. The intent is to do an impressive and damaging looking move not hurt the person. Under your logic you're literally suggesting movie fights scenes are not fake because there are scenes that actually hurt. Under your logic there can be no such thing as a fake fight. Again, your logic stuoulates those fake martial arts videos are not fake. They're predetermined. Because people do fall over and that could hurt or injure someone. Don't be so sensitive. Besides it doesn't hurt that bad compared to any combat or physical sport. The injuries are usually muscle strains and accidents. Or the reason for such high injury rates: frequency of impacts. Not the severity. When people say it's fake, it's okay to be like, yeah it's entertainment. Just like a movie or TV show. Arguing against the word fake just makes wrestling fans look like idiots to everyone else. It's fake and there's nothing wrong with that. Ryback is still a douche, though.
@JMFSpike3 жыл бұрын
@@bluecollarscientist216 It's definitely entertainment. I never said it wasn't, but if you compare it to the movies you mention it is clearly far more real then that. Not just in terms of the bumps (and you have hugely downplayed how severe their injuries can be by the way), but also the characters. In film, people are always playing a character. In wrestling, that's often not completely true. Sometimes they definitely are playing a character, but many times it's just them being themselves for the most part. They will often take themselves and simply turn up the volume a couple of notches, as was certainly the case for Randy Savage.
@bluecollarscientist2163 жыл бұрын
@@JMFSpike everything you said is irrelevant to my points. The point is simple. Does wrestling fit the definition of fake. Fake means imitation or non genuine. 1. so is wrestling a non genuine fight or non genuine contest ? Of course. Predetermined falls under this category. 2. Is wrestling an attempt to present an imitation of an actual fight or contest? Yes. Therefore it satisfies the definition of fake. In fact in only needs to meet one of the above criteria.

The smallest miscalculation in wrestling could cost you years of your life or worse. Droz was taking a basic powerbomb which nowadays is a pretty casual bump but back then it was match ending move, needless to say as Booker said Droz sadly was in a wheel-chair not long after... Shit even Edge just recently came back after he had like triple spinal surgery or somethin like that and he was retired from Wrestling for like a decade.

I think Mark Henry's inconsistency has to do wit Rousey still being employed by WWE and Ryback not.

She never disrespect the title tho
@obrianthomas36613 жыл бұрын
You are right just wouldn’t call it inconsistency he is all about protecting the company and when a man like Ryback continues to bash the company that gave him a platform you never heard Cody go so deep he said he didn’t agree with creative you never heard Moxley bash the company just didn’t agree with creative
@anonymousbo03183 жыл бұрын
@@obrianthomas3661 What you would call it is irrelevant. It definitely is an inconsistency on his part. Also Cody's constant need to passive aggressively reference WWE is notable and tiresome, while Moxley does nothing but cry about the same story over and over again. At least Cody could be witty every once in awhile.

@@anonymousbo0318 not if he is bashing the company he use to work for if ryback attack pro wrestling as a whole then it would be a lot of others to say something but he attacked wwe since the day of his release which sounds a lil bitter to me
@myhandlewastaken3 жыл бұрын
The difference between Rousey and Ryback's comments was the context and setting. Ronda came from a place where she is seen as "real" and can explain her feelings about it in kayfabe, or as a shoot. Ryback's come from a place of bitterness after having made poor choices.

Anybody on the roster can be the champion. Strowman won the tag championship with a kid.

Yes, professional wrestling is a sport entertainment but the titles aren’t props is the symbolism of hard work and dedication. It’s literally everything that embodies obstacles. It’s real cold and it’s a real championship.

Booker T is not a regular person, he's royalty, King Bookah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@anonymousbo03183 жыл бұрын
If more people had the mindset that Booker T had while in the wrestling business, the wrestling business as a whole would be a much better business. To many marks/fanboys within the business that buy their own hype way to hard, and screws themselves.

Your both right in my opinnion anyone who knows how many young wrestlers had died and still call it fake should be banned from any wrestling company, I don't care if is Rounda, Ryback or who any one else
@mistergrim_official3 жыл бұрын
On point. I do my best to completely ignore Ryback. I just can't get into listening to someone throw themselves under the bus. It's why years ago, I moved away from "Shoot Interviews" which were once a source of education. But it turned into "interviewers" getting guys/girls drunk and goading them into a line of questioning that could keep them from ever getting a job again. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth everytime, and I started feeling sleazy just by contributing by listening/watching.

I remember i asked the late great Hall of Famer junkyard dog the same question when I was a kid about wrestling if it was fake he smiled and said you tell me I said I'm not sure he said that's for me to know and for you to figure out your self he called me and my brother Bebes kids it was a cartoon back in the 1990s he was doing a autograph signing in Walmart at Riverside California back in 95 or 96 he was a real cool guy Booker T's 100% right on how he feels about the wrestling business RIP JYD

I don’t know why people were so obsessed with rousey anyway, it’s hard to come off as the baddest woman on the planet when I watch 2 women ring her fucking bell.

Kevin Owens told a story once that he was in an angle with Ryback, for some reason Kevin Owens was supposed to eat an apple and Ryback was supposed to crush it with his bare hands and he couldn't do it. Then on the WWE network show Ride Along. Jericho mentioned it to Mark Henry and he got an apple and squeezed it into juice with one hand lol.

As a long time fan of wrestling, it pisses me off when people call it fake. Ryback's problem is he has never been choke slammed through a cell, speared while dangling 20+ feet from the ring etc.
@Lemont52363 жыл бұрын
With regards to Rousey, I hope Henry and JBL were looking at it from the perspective of "hey, she's working everyone like an antagonist." If not, then they did contradict themselves.

Wrestling you are not intending to hurt each other but every movement contains a risk, gravity increases it. Just look at the list of injuries of Booker.
