How funny would it be if they were nominated for both Oscar’s AND razzies😹😹😹😹
@Locke35013 күн бұрын
@@DisabledDoll It wouldn’t be the first time a film was nominated for both an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year. The fact that the Razzies didn’t touch Emilia Pérez despite all the backlash just shows how selective they can be. One of the most infamous examples is The Godfather Part III (1990). It was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director (Francis Ford Coppola), and Best Supporting Actor (Andy García) at the Oscars. Yet, it also got Razzie nominations, with Sofia Coppola winning Worst Supporting Actress for her widely criticized performance. Another case is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), which received an Oscar nomination for Best Sound Mixing while also winning Worst Picture, Worst Director (Michael Bay), and Worst Screenplay at the Razzies. It was recognized for its technical achievements but still ridiculed for its overall quality. And then there’s Blonde (2022), which got Razzie nominations for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Director (Andrew Dominik). Despite the film being trashed, Ana de Armas escaped Razzie scrutiny and was even nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars-a rare case where a performance was praised while the film itself was condemned. It just goes to show that the Razzies don’t always go after every controversial film. Sometimes, they pick and choose their targets, and Emilia Pérez getting a free pass only makes that more obvious.

This movie bombed in Mexico. There are videos of people laughing at how bad Selena's dialogue was, even when those scenes are supposed to be dramatic and serious. And I mean dialogue, not just her spanish. She badly speaks slang words that only a fluent mexican spanish speaker would use, and then blurts expressions that no one speaking spanish would ever use, which makes it feel like someone just wrote the dialogue in other language and translated it on google without understanding context sensitive words, idioms, etc. And that is the least of its problem.

In 2002, the acting awards went to Denzel and Halle Berry with the host of Whoopi Goldberg. Berry might have deserved her oscar, but Denzel was in Training day. It was mediocre and had some truly horrible dialogue. They were mostly giving Denzel an oscar in apology for not having done so sooner, and to get ahead of claims of racism. So they rigged the Oscars to demonstrate their integrity. In the past I had helpfully suggested that the oscars should merge with adult entertainment awards. It might improve the quality of script that makes the cut. But hollywood has manipulated people into accepting their grandiose self-perception. If adult entertainers hire a nice venue and put on tuxes, they wouldn't be afforded respectability. So there's an inherent elitisim to saying "this is the pinnacle of what our art is and should be about" and telling the paying audience to suck it if they think best picture should be one that people enjoyed. Say what you will about adult entertainment, but at their award shows, you can assume that the actors worked hard. They really worked up a sweat. And produced something that an audience might actually like.

@ Disclaimer: I speak Spanish but I’m also white, so I’m looking at this from a different perspective from a native speaker/Latino. Anyway, you probably know this already, but Spanish is a gendered language. Latino is generally used to describe a group of men or a group of people both male and female, Latina is used to describe women. About 10 or so years ago, a bunch of people (who I’m not sure even speak Spanish) decided that Latino isn’t inclusive enough, so they put an X at the end. The problem is that, if you know Spanish at all, it’s unpronounceable because that’s not how the letter X sounds. It’s a term made for English speakers to feel like they’re being so inclusive while ignoring how Spanish is actually spoken. I’ve seen some people use the word Latine to include people all across the gender spectrum, and at least that’s actually pronounceable in Spanish.

This insult of a thing called "film" has horribly stained Mexico in recent days, mainly because we are fed up with the romanticization of narco culture, serious films other than documentaries rarely touch on the subject and the fact that the film handled the subject so poorly is an insult. It was for the best that no people born in Mexico or Latin America were included (in fact the director said he did not find talents that fit the project, that is, implying that he did not find ANY Latin actor who was capable of the job.). The other thing that was talked about a lot was that one of the most recognized actors in Mexico named Eugenio Derbez criticized Selena Gomez's accent but because he was getting a lot of hate for giving an opinion (that was not at all strong) he ended up retracting so as not to look bad with the Hollywood elite. In fact, from the interviews given at the premiere of the film, the director mentioned that the inspiration for the film was in a chapter of a soap opera of which he did not even know the name and because it was a soap opera his incredible genius told him which must portray the story in Mexico where he confirmed that he did not specialize in anything and that he already knew everything he needed to know about here. The final insult is the fact that there were at least 3 people involved as dialect coaches and none of them apparently verified whether one really speaks or expresses oneself as in the film. Many Mexican critics have expressed their criticism of the dialect that even people from slums do not speak so indistinguishably. The songs are horribly as for the tunes and the lyrics.

@@atticstattic Per research including brain studies, transgenderism is a likely biological condition where brain is towards the opposite sex, e.g. it doesn't just appear as an adult (tho it can take some a while to recognize). For some trans children, puberty can trigger s.lf h.rm and s.lf delete thoughts among other issues due to the mismatch between the brain and the hormones, and some children will go along with those thoughts without intervention. So, when transitioning is restricted to adults only, that's ensuring some children will s.lf delete. Can't tell you how jarring it is as a Spanish speaker to hear some of the Spanish in this movie. That selena Gomez clip straight up sounds like Parseltongue

As a Mexican all of these videos feel like a catharsis, seriously this movie is the biggest offense they could have possibly have done

If you crapped your pants but give it the "correct" politics then those same crapped pants become worthy of awards and praise.

Imagine going from Guardians of the Galaxy, one of the most beloved marvel trilogies in existence, to this.

The hilarious thing is that the film has all the characters being fooled by this obvious man.

The Oscars … what a Joke! This movie will be the nail in the coffin to the Oscars viewership as the downfall will worsen. This is an OVERRATED film that has no business being nominated 13 times (especially Best Actress). It’s nothing short of Pathetic and stupid, while this film checks the criteria for being nominated (*DEI, Trans and Woke). “Hollywoke” will Never Learn. 🤡🤦🏽♂️🤔

Oh goodness, no. They are EXTREMELY serious. A trans woman in a lead role? The movie could have praised Hitler and it still would have been nominated.

When I saw footage of this film and the "song" with the classic "🎶Peeenis to vaaaaginaaaa" I thought it was deliberate parody ( same as when I saw men for Harris lol ) made by the right to utterly humiliate and mock the left and in both cases I still can't help but think that it still really was. It could be a hoax film made just to see if the academy will laud it just like the guy who took mein Kampf and changed nothing but Jew for straight white male, called it "my struggle is your struggle" and gave it to feminist publishers and it won dozens of awards before the hoax was revealed. Who knows here
