While beeing home during the pandemic, my English got so much better. I watched a lot of English speaking videos and also I got to the point reading the book "forty rules of love" by Elif Shafak, which is written in advanced English.

Thanks so much for this lesson!It's great!Alright,I've a question,can I say,"I've got to learn so many things from this lesson."?And I mean to say by this that I have learnt so many things from this lesson.Would u mind telling if the sentence makes sense?
@RealLifeEnglish13 жыл бұрын
Yes, correct!
@JDavidHopkins3 жыл бұрын
No, it’s not correct. When you say, “I’ve got to learn”, that means you must learn something in the future. If you trying to say, “that I have learnt so many things” that means you learned them in the past. So, for the future say, “I’ve got to learn . . .” And, for the past say, “I have learned . . .” Or, if you insist on using the word ‘get’ you could say, “I have gotten so much out of this lesson”. Hope that helps!

I have difficulties understanding some of them. So is it correct if I say: I usually get carried away when I speak with someone in English. Sooner or later I'll have to get around to study Spanish. A language is difficult until you get the hang of it. Thank you for this brilliant lesson! 😇
