Australian Grape and Wine Chief Executive Lee McLean says China officially abolishing tariffs on Australian wine is “really good news” because the industry has gone through “a couple of years of very difficult times”.
The tariffs were placed on $20 billion of Australian exports in 2020 and 2021.
The Commerce Ministry in Beijing has announced it is ‘no longer necessary to impose anti-dumping duties and countervailing duties on the imports of the relevant wines originating in Australia.’
“It’s really good news,” Mr McLean told Sky News host Steve Price.
“We’ve been going through a couple of years of very difficult times.
“The announcement last night … is great news for grape growers and winemakers in Australia.”

@@mokulashi A dragon is a mythical creature.. Your supposed to pet the dog.. not eat it. Australia doesn't need China.. they have plenty of their own resources.

Australia fruit growers such as mango, citrus, peach , melons etc may find huge market in China as well. China consumers like to spend big money on foreign products as China has huge reserve of foreign currency. China trade surplus jump to new high US$1 trillion per year even west media talk about China economy collapsing every day. For example, some people in China like a tropical fruit called Durian from SE Asian countries. Now every year China import more than US$5 billion durians. Many farmers in Malaysia and Thailand switch to growing Durian and one Durian tree can fetch US$5000 income for farmers.

Lots of very expensive wine went to China so maybe only the bottom end stuff went to the third world over that way? You get what you pay for.

Steve Price grovelling and thanking our 'Chinese overlords' instead of condemning them for the harm they try to inflict on Australian businesses. 🙄 Grow a pair, Steve.
