Battery power density is not improving. It hasn't since the 80's. It'll never get any better than it is right now.

@nightcoremetal2518 What current battery technology is better than these 20-year-old lithium polymer packs I have here, that puffed years ago? The dump or waste transfer won't accept them, the ones that are ultimately just going to get discarded somewhere they probably shouldn't be? What do you think of the lithium leaching ponds? Those ponds are colored so beautifully, it's like a sci-fi movie.
@Dat_Sun3 ай бұрын
@georgejohnson2046 Durability and longevity have been sacrificed for a little bit more capacity. Honestly, I'd rather have high quality ni-cads that last 30+ years than any short lived lie-xx chemistry. The simpler technology doesn't require super expensive computer controlled balancing chargers. Battery technology has been nothing but a trade-off since the 80s. That's why it's gotten no better overall. And what's the point? A battery doesn't generate power. It's just another storage medium, like hydrogen gas, powered vehicles, or whatever. It's not an energy source. It's just a carrier. It's actually increasing the demand on our already over taxed grid.
@nightcoremetal25183 ай бұрын
@@Dat_Sun Ev's increase demand overall but they usually charge at night at home, which is actually good for the grid. Unlike air conditioning, which strains the grid because everyone is doing it during the day, all at once. All of this is easily google able. I think yiu might be intentionally ignorant.

@Slane5833 ай бұрын
I personally don't hate the idea of an EV. But I'll probably never go for one until they're more viable and trust worthy. They're also not a good option if you live in a region where it gets very cold in the winter.
@Slane5833 ай бұрын
These would be great for kids that are stuck living in a neighborhood where people frown upon any kind of noises louder than the wind. They're good for blasting around the yard for a few minutes and when they're low plug them in and let them charge. But they'll never be a full-on replacement for gas power no matter what the tree-huggers or suits try to tell you. I'm not saying gasoline will be around forever. But it sure won't be battery powered vehicles that will be their successor. It'll probably be some other type of fuel source that burns cleaner. That being said they've been trying to make full electric vehicles since the 60's. As such there have been many makes of electric vehicle that have failed as quickly as they came to light. GM has even made a full electric variant of the S-10 back in the 90's which no knows about because it didn't last. It's a repeating cycle they don't want to leave alone. :)

I remember when the 2 stoke guys said 4 strokes will never compete in motocross. Lol. I would rather my kid rip around the campsite with a quite Ev than a gas powered one. Im sure the other campers would agree. Same as property. I think the smaller EV machines should have battery swap technology.

Lot less chance of an electric atv catching fire than a gas combustion engine

@@RealTalkPowersports There are actually some cities where apartment complexes won't allow EV's to sit outside of the building due to fire risk. They consider EV's to be an insurance liability. So tenants with EV's have to park by the road away from the building. Unless it has major wiring issues and is leaking fuel everywhere a gas powered car isn't going to spontaneously catch fire like an EV would while charging.
@crazyflyboy303 ай бұрын
Gas vehicles fires are many times higher than EV . Data from the National Transportation Safety Board showed that EVs were involved in approximately 25 fires for every 100,000 sold. Comparatively, approximately 1,530 gasoline-powered vehicles and 3,475 hybrid vehicles were involved in fires for every 100,000 sold.
