The solution to homelessness is homes. Period. Plus wrap around services such as mental health, medical, dental and education.

We KNOW that in the long term houses and services are CHEAPER than not. Right now about 70% of ER visits are the homeless. So when people object to homes they are LITERALLY saying they want people to suffer because taxes are already going up to deal with this. THere's a reason most of europe manages to spend FAR less on health care an policing when they take care of their population. The US spends WAY more at every level and department and has about the worst outcomes of ANY civilized country.

I have to agree with Ryan that I am just sick of the discourse and have less and less of a desire to engage in anything political other than casting my vote. Great discussions Ryan, thanks for the refreshing common sense. Keep it up.

Can Adler explain how not allowing rainbow crosswalks and flags in the public square are hate or prejudice? Why does sexuality or any sexual inuendo have to be in the public square? On a seperate note, do the alphabet folks have H in the mix for heterosexual or are they discriminating against that orientation?

I came back to finish watching. Adler is the absolute worst when he gets all weepy with the crocodile tears. I remember watching you guys and Danielle Smith covering the federal election several years ago and he pulled the same schtick talking about Andrew Sheer and his "extremist rhetoric". Sometimes Charles has reasonable points. And sometimes he's unbearable.

To be fair, the 'why are we talking about this' from somebody talking about it is a little iffy. What I get the feeling of is that media loves sleaze, and this is sleaze, and its 'great' because its somebody else that brought it up "so we're just reporting on it" (and now I'm commenting on it). I don't follow twitter, its been nuts from day one, I had no idea who this guy was and if this show hadn't mentioned it, I'd never have heard of this. I learned it long ago on wikipedia, but thought it was just weird, but in politics, everything is weird and I care about policy so don't give two shits if Pollievre were a polygamist or something. Good for him for being able to spend his time with two ladies of that calibre. No point in getting more salacious than that, no matter how entertaining it would be:) What I get the feeling is that media and others would like to 'just make sure people know this' because they want to put Pollievre on edge if he veers into the christian fundamentalist area. In politics appearance is everything. But I would disagree with how smart she is. Conservatives have a rural base and a western base. THey didn't vote Trudeau before, they certainly weren't now. The idea that Pollievre had to go extreme because of hte party extremists is ludicrous, he BROUGHT the extremists into the party. Erin O'toole tested better with LIBERAL voters than Trudeau, and the fact is, coservative hard liners NEVER liked O'toole, but they voted for him anyway. For the most part conservatives would vote a potted plant, in fact for conservatives thats fine because they dont' really want ANY federal legislation. I"d actually think they should play that up, because women urban voters are a real problem for conservatives, and the idea that Pollievre gets along with his ex well enough to work with her would likely resonate with a lot of female voters. Hell, in politics maybe THATS why another guy on the right brings it up.

@@mikearchibald744 inflation, spending, scandals, division, housing, Medicare, carbon tax, etc.
@mikearchibald744
@mikearchibald744 7 ай бұрын
@@chadtosh6831Inflation is 3%. Thats one percentage above what economists call 'no inflation'. And its been that way for the past year. So inflation has been resolved, thanks to Trudeau. Spending is now one tenth its highest point during a global pandemic. The one time increase in spending was during a global economic pandemic when PROVINCES closed down economies and ALL parties agreed to that spending. So thats not Trudeau's fault at all, and NOW the deficit is 30 billion, less than the larger provinces were for much of the past five years. So that problem has been resolved as well. Scandals you'll have to be more specific about, one persons scandal is another persons 'run of the mill'. For scandals there really hasn't been anything unusual, all govenrments have scandals. Division is normal, if you are not liberal you won't like Trudeau. Most people don't like politicians, comes with the job, but division is not only normal in a modern society its NECESSARY or else you live in a dictatorship. Carbon tax is provincial. The federal requirement is only to PRICE carbon. Quebec has a cap and trade system,, ONtario USED to have one, til Ford killed it and decided to tax ontarians instead. But even within the carbon tax MOST canadians get more back than they spend, how many taxes do that? Medicare is provincial, the feds have nothing to do with medicare. So it looks like ALL those things you mention have been resolved already. Yes, there were scandals, the conservative leader was involved in as many scandals as Trudeau and he wasn't even PM. Want to talk about the conservative party trying to block people voting, or the Phoenix scandal which ended up costing BILLIONS?
@chadtosh6831

@@mikearchibald744 inflation has been way above 3% for the past year and just because it dropped below 3% for one month does not mean it’s done. In most industries, you know the ones that provide jobs, this carbon tax is highly inflationary. Everytime a product is handled, moved, stored or produced there is carbon tax added on at every step. The price on carbon is a carbon tax, no matter how you call it. Then the feds want to add gst on a tax. Talk about double dipping. Even you will be crying once as Trudeau keeps upping the price on carbon.

Socialism and "doing good" won't fix homelessness. The last mayor took homelessness as his highest priority and he watched it grow every year. Demand grows to fill any supply of "social services" including "free" health care. When did we decide that anyone who wants to take drugs is allowed to steal whatever they want, takeover whatever space they want, and then set up their own settlement, outside zoning and land use and trespass laws? Why are addicts and homeless people allowed to takeover transit facilities and then threaten, fight with, and steal from actual transit users? How did homeless people get the right to deal drugs, traffic weapons, extort & assault people, and for that matter, murder citizens? Homelessness will get fixed when we decide that laws are laws and that being "needy" or "special" doesn't give one special rights outside of law and order.
@mikearchibald744
@mikearchibald744 7 ай бұрын
Funny but socialism and doing good has fixed homelessness in virtually EVERY country. I think you know as well as anybody that those aren't 'rights' but realities. And homeless people do ALL those things WAY less than other members of the population. What you are saying is that homelessness will be fixed when we 'home' them all in jail. Which is INSANE because we know its FAR cheaper just to freaking build a home an GIVE it to them. Jail is TEN times more expensive. So you are literally just gleeing over the idea of being pointlessly cruel.

Danielle Smith isn't the best premier any province has ever had. Peter Lougheed was the only good and sensible Conservative premier in Alberta. There were absolutely no others. Peter Lougheed also didn't trust Danielle Smith. Neither did cabinet ministers who were in his government. Danielle Smith didn't last long as a public school trustee, as the Wildrose party leader and as a radio talk show host, because of what she said and did wrong. Danielle Smith won't complete a full term as premier of Alberta.

@chadtosh6831 Danielle Smith didn't last long as the Wildrose party leader, because of what she said and did wrong. She was defeated in her own riding, in 2015. If the UCP are already on their second leader, and this happened in under 4 years, that should tell you that something isn't right. Danielle Smith still acts like she did when she was the Wildrose party leader, so she won't last for a full term as premier of Alberta.
