What my mentor told me (different field but we still practice on oranges!) when I was frustrated that I couldn’t get the sutures how I wanted them was, “ crawl before you walk, jog before you run, and breath always.” It really applies to everything in life man. Like I may be up in the ER and operating room, but what you say is really a good lesson for everything! Love, love, love the disclaimer that you say before certain things! Also you’re an amazing artist and teacher

Watch videos of work done on real skin with a clear view of what's going on. There are thousands. Always error on the side of not going too deep the first part of the line and wipe. Until the line is solid. Tale three tries if need be. Cuz all skin is different! You will find the bog naturally and much more easily than most people think. After my first line or two on someone I rarely take more than two passes at the first bit of the line from then on. Of course the goal is one pass but at first just error on the side of little more deep at a time like digging rather than cutting etc. You can even ride the tube at first on color packing if you have no supervision etc. Too deep = blowout. Not deep enough = second pass and few extra seconds of time.

Imagine seeing your dream tattoo that was botched up on your skin looking all good and sexy on an orange.
@MrProfit4203 жыл бұрын
Oranges are far from the texture of real skin. Just because it looks nice on an orange, doesn’t mean he’s got skills on skin. There is no skin stretching. He’s not wiping..or dabbing I should say, after every line pull. His hand speed/machine speed ratio is off. Most of that ink wouldn’t set in real skin. But you won’t know that, because he isn’t wiping after his line pulls. He wipes maybe 4 or 5 times the whole sesh. Which gave that ink a lot of time to dry. He also doesn’t use a lubricant of some kind like A&D or something similar. Though, I’m sorry that whoever did your dream tattoo, botched it on your skin. I’m just relaying the fact that, oranges are much different than skin. So if what that guy is doing, “looks good”. There are lot of things he is doing that are not good habits to have as a tattoo artist. But hey, the next time an orange comes to him for a tattoo, dude has them covered for sure lol

Please don't make "sterile" water with tap water and alcohol. Unless it is more alcohol than water, it's not going to be sterile and can cause infection.
@austindorf834 жыл бұрын
Your ink isn’t sterile. The razor usually isn’t sterile. The shop you’re in isn’t sterile. Use your head. I’ve gotten over 5 dozen tattoos, two dozen given by myself in my goddamn basement. Not one infection. Infection comes from shitty aftercare or an “artist” shredding the skin.
@sdaskalas63934 жыл бұрын
@@austindorf83 ye honestly, if you consider how ppl used to do tattoos in the past or like where(prison,ships etc) the infection usually comes afterwards, even if you mess up during tattooing on sth hygienic wise you clean the wound in the end and re-sterilize it, also the odds of getting an infection are scarce if the tattoo(as said above) is done right and its not a scar-level deep .My tattoo artist goes on and on about after care but I ve seen him not giving a flying shit about his new tattoos :P
@austindorf834 жыл бұрын
sdas kalas Even scar-deep tattoos haven’t been infected on me. Someone just gave me a tattoo machine one day and I went to town on tattooing myself. I made tons of mistakes, and scarred myself in the process. Still, not one infection. And yeah, like you said, I don’t take care of my tattoos AT ALL.
