In this episode - I prepare haircards in Fibershop, then export them to Ornatrix 3ds Max and show you how to properly prepare them for use with the Ornatrix Branching function, which is very convenient for creating and editing HairCards. That is, you have one object with guides, where you edit all the layers. I have already shown this technology and talked about it several times in other videos.

While watching this video, you should understand that although I show everything in detail, I do not spend a lot of time on high-quality textures in Fibershop, because a good high-quality hairstyle requires much more time, but at the same time, this series of videos will be enough to understand everything and understand the principle of creating haircards using Ornatrix + Fibershop.

TIMING:
0:00 - Let's start creating a texture in Fibershop. Let's analyze the reference. Under the number 4, I decided to make long hair.
5:36 - The Base Layer is ready. It is used to fill the shape.
5:45 - Let's start creating the Thick Layer, which is slightly thinner than the Base
8:02 - This layer is ready. Let's start creating the Thin Layer
12:13 - Next, let's create FlyAways - several options and correct the length of all cards.
14:18 - Let's make the hairs thinner in each of the cards. We may increase them later.
16:03 - Next, add the Noise modifier. If you have highly stylized hair, you can skip it.
17:05 - Next, I added a basic Clump, so that I can then copy it to the rest of the cards. As I said, the goal of this series is to quickly show the basic process, and then in the next series, we will improve the result and not spend too much time on it. As long as you understand the basic principles of work.
17:49 - Save the project and bake the maps
18:00 - Let's start exporting
18:26 - Import into 3ds max
18:53 - Create a material for Viewport display
19:50 - Since Fibershop comes with a single object, we need to split it using the Detach Elements script - www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...
20:16 - Now you need to do ResetXform and place each of the HairCards in the zero coordinate system. This is very important for Ornatrix. Also, the Pivot should be at the bottom, not in the center of the HairCard.
21:56 - Next, I place them as I see fit.
23:10 - For Flyaway, you also need to create a "cross" geometry so that the hair is visible from all sides. In other words, simply copy the polygon and rotate it 90 degrees. Then we collect it into one object using Attach and do ResetXform
25:39 - To get smooth curves in Ornatrix, you need to densify the mesh and also add some volume using FFD. Don't worry - we will apply optimization before exporting.
29:26 - Next, we apply the Furball preset and create the main layer.
30:21 - After that, we create its Reference for the first Base layer.
30:34 - Please note that the ChangeWidth and MeshFromStrands modifiers are assigned after the line. This way they will affect the specific layer to which we assign the group. And we will control all layers using the main one. There will be only guides with groups.
30:54 - Since this is the first layer, we assign the first group.
31:18 - For the first layer, add the first HairCard from the Base group
32:03 - Here it is important to note that A/B Fibershop is slightly different from A/B in Ornatrix. Therefore, you need to rotate the haircard in polygon editing mode. This is very important.
32:49 - We will do the same with other HairCards. But in the next series. To be continued.

I really like the result, but when I create the hair textures in fibershop and export them in 3ds Max, they look transparent. I don't know why I followed your same steps, teacher, and the opacity looks totally black, I don't know.
