Electing anyone who is gay, lesbian, bi, or trans will stop feeling extraordinary when we stop making a big deal out of it. Whenever someone is introduced to a position (Karine Jean-Pierre for example) there is no need to point out their race, gender, sexuality, or religion. As soon as you do, I no longer believe that person got that position on their own merit. Let their experience, skill, intelligence, and ability speak for why they got the position instead of making it look like it was because of some trait they possess. It cheapens their accomplishments.

@@lolawilson78 I wholeheartedly agree. Mediocrity is indeed the standard across the board. But lauding someone's race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or sexuality simply distracts away from those details and in some cases spares people the same judgmental lens through which we hold the others. Whether someone is talented or not, deserving or not, putting anything but their ability forefront is dangerous and disingenuous.

@@terfalicious I'm pansexual and I've been called homophobic more times than I can count because I oppose children at drag shows, transitioning children, teaching children graphic sexual content, and I have turned down a date and/or intercourse with a trans person (I guess personality isn't a factor anymore). Also, I completely understand the abortion issue, however I find it incredibly disingenuous when anyone says, "reproductive healthcare" or "women's healthcare". Abortions are not healthcare, I'm sorry. By calling it healthcare they intend to mislead people about the issue and make it sound like a life and death matter, when really it comes down to just not _wanting_ to have a baby, not physically be _unable_ to have one. No abortion law punishes and ectopic pregnancy (which also is not an abortion) and the "in cases of rape and incest" argument is invalidated by the fact that over 90% of abortions are 100% elective and not due to rape or incest.
@ViFabulous
@ViFabulous Жыл бұрын
@@TheBattleRabbit860 Do you have actual DATA to back your assertions?? Abortion actually IS healthcare. When a woman has a partial miscarriage, she may need medical or surgical intervention to remove the products of conception. Should she slowly bleed to death because a GQP member thinks it's wrong? Or when a woman is 15+ weeks and the fetus dies. Should the woman risk sepsis because a GQP member is offended??? "Miscarriage" is a lay term, not a medical term. A woman can lose a pregnancy at anytime during the 40 weeks. While the most common time to lose a pregnancy is within the first 10 weeks, it can happen at any time. Until YOU have to be induced to deliver a fetus that simply died at nearly 18 weeks pregnancy after hearing the heartbeat and seeing the baby move, please do us all a favor and STFU.

I lived there for 16 years and left for the exact reasons you stated. That was 2001 and it has only gotten worse there. Legalized pot has caused an influx of homeless tent dwellers to the point that are looking like a kaliforeignia clone more every day. Even an ex-californian governor. He announced a meat out day on TV spouting some vegan nonsense, and really pissed off a lot of farmers and ranchers in NE Colorado. They had a giant meat-in BBQ at the local sale barn that served over 3000 people. Denver TV news crews showed up and interviewed a bunch of people who were very forth coming about what they thought of our governor. He was publicly invited to the shindig, but wisely did not attend. Agriculture is the 2nd largest revenue source for the state behind crude oil.

So Denver is NOT Colorado. I know it's kind of a lot to get your brain around with the media and the state government always putting DENVER as the priority. You really have got to get out more! There are plenty of beautiful spaces in Colorado with clean air, plenty of sunshine and healthy environments that'll take your breath away from the sheer beauty of it all.
@SequentialGeek

@@esmereldaclovington3298 I had called Polis office over and over and over again, then I called lawyers asking wtf is going on w/that guy and his office, last Winter, because it was supposed to take no more than twelve weeks for me to get my unemployment, even though it was already approved, yet they made me wait FIFTEEN WEEKS, no call back, nothing -because, like most places in this fake country, regardless of what political party is in charge, people do not matter, and here in Denver area, if you are not working for the military ,or some natural gas / oil company, then you are either living off some kind of trust fund, or at least have your rent paid by parents, or you are just totally screwed like me after making the stupid decision to relocate here. Passive-aggressive bigotry, head games and alienation that people push on customers and co-workers and neighbors here is as bad as the North West here, except they call it being "dry", not like the North West where after a while of working with someone they are willing to just admit they are passive-aggressive. Yeah, I made it to Garden of the Gods, took me two tries, because the freeway 25 is the only road here that goes North and South, so when there is any kind of road work, or accident, like that first try I made that was all dismal -you are not only stuck in miles and miles and miles of cars, since it is Colorado, there is NO WAY AROUND IT, since that is it. Unlike most places if there is construction you can get off the freeway and take a side road, I tell people here the infrastructure is soo limited if there is a traffic jam you cannot go off the freeway and take side street to get around it. It is awful here, I tried to get my license renewed, just taking 25 again South, and there was an accident, and just to drive ten miles it took me over forty-five minutes. There is no nature in the Denver area, nothing grows here naturally, unless you like living in a desert that pretends it has "civilization". Sorry, it is soo bad here, you cant just get to "nature" unless you get up super early -like I want to do that after working all week -so if you dont wake up early enough in Denver to beat the traffic for that hour commute to the mountains, then you just dont get nature> The parks here are just gravel, trees w/no leaves, sparse, no shelter from the sun at all in any of these "parks"... So sorry, but it is not designed for human beings here, it is designed for condos in the middle of no where made to be flipped, not lived in, surrounded by remote strip malls w/junk food, and remote office parks, and remote outlets like Costco and Target, and all that offers only grueling traffic and more asphalt.. There are no jobs in other parts of Colorado. The movie Over the Edge says it all about Colorado.

I don't see any reason an atheist or agnostic type couldn't be elected to any position in the country. I vote conservative because I want less government and less taxes and more freedom, not because I want our political leaders to have mystical beliefs in deities. The modern conservative doesn't care about your sex/gender/color/religion. None of that matters. I didn't vote for Polis but most of the conservatives I know here in Colorado including myself have respect for Polis as he is a business friendly, freedom minded, "classical" thinking liberal who works hard and gets things done. He handled covid in a manner that was driven entirely by health care capacity and didn't go down the rabbit hole of purposeless tyranny like so many other Democratic governors, many of whom were just re-elected, which makes no sense at all.

Neither corporate party is "pro freedom." The Republicans indeed want to control what you do in your bedroom, and who you can marry, but the Democrats want to control what you can buy, like firearms, and what you must buy, like health insurance. The Libertarian Party is a separate entity for a reason, and is repeatedly held off the debate stage by the controlling parties, despite being on all 50 state ballots. The LP also battles unfair, and sometimes unconstitutional, laws written by Rs and Ds to keep competition down. Besides, plenty of Libertarians, like myself, are classic liberals. The basic notion is not to hurt people, don't take their stuff, and don't overspend other people's money and leave them on the hook for more. Sadly, Rs and Ds are strong advocates for overspending.

'The Democrat governor who came out on top was Colorado's Jared Polis. While Colorado has been voting more Democratic in recent elections, the party has only a 3.1- point voter-registration advantage. Mr. Polis won in a 18.1-point rout because he has often bucked his party's progressives. Mr. Polis supported a ballot initiative this year to reduce the state's income tax and has even suggested abolishing the tax. In june he vetoed a bill that would have imposed costly electric-vehicle-charging mandates on businesses. He swung back against the Biden administration's overreach on ozone regulations that would raise gasoline prices in his state. And he pushed for schools to reopen and lifted lockdowns sooner than other Democratic governors. In an increasingly polarized country, that's the model Democrat's with aspirations for the White House should be following." --Allysia Finley
