But the problem is Hitchens used to and Nye and Dawkins still use "big complicated words" like "scepticism" so they wouldn't really connect with Milos and Bens crowd. They prefer the Trump method of using short sentences with short and simple words, and an either naive or blatantly ignorant message as that is the real way to connect with the mentally challenged. Hitchens, Nye and Dawkins would not be able to change their minds because they would not be understood. In this very video you can actually see how incredibly smart one of the alt-rights supposed champions is. Maher points out the obvious irony of a gay man generalizing all gays as having the same negative qualities he has but then standing up for catholocism which would deem him a natural sinner and living crime using that very same method of generalizing. Now an actual intelligent person would be well aware that this will be a contradiction any debater with an opposing position would point out and they would come fully prepared. Instead Milo brushes it off with a "I'm so pretty, teehee." hoping that Maher won't push the issue and since Maher has a modicum of respect for his guests he did in fact let it slide. The only thing Milo said that actually had any intrinsic value was pointing out the importance of free speech and that "refusing to show up to a debate means you lose the debate" but those are not exactly brilliant ideas but the wonderous thing called "common sense". And I will agree that a lot of people on the left (and obviously almost everyone on the right) seem to lack that common sense nowadays as protests to shut up a person on one side and the whole "fake news" bullshit on the other are both ways of trying to stand in the way of free speech and a free press. Still doesn't mean that Milo and Ben stop being disgraceful just because the other side has morons too.
