Real estate agents have no duty to investigate, but the DO have a duty to disclose. This goes for both buy and sell agents. It's darn near impossible that they did not know the future plans for the land.

Wasn't the closure of the park just announced this October? How would a realtor know prior?
@vulcan288219 күн бұрын
The city knew the whole time what was going on and the real estate agents knew as well, I hope these people all sue the city and the real estate company for everything they have.

Weren't they given till March 2025 to move, so that was 6 months? That's sad about the new buyers, hope they can move their homes, but the one this guy bought barely looks like it's standing now.

Yes and no. For the maximum compensation ($14,000 was a number I saw mentioned) by end of January. Then somewhat less after that to eventually zero. Yep, noticed that too. Real estate agent reeled that one in. Probably cheers and laughs back at the office. One really has to do due diligence. As the residents are experiencing, there are very few legal protections and limited recourse. For most, best they'll get is the extra incentive money for moving out early.

@@ronbennett7885 Tenants are not victims, they knew the land beneath their trailers was rented. The park was there for 66 years, that's a long run for cheap rent. They had ample opportunity to save up a nest egg, work more, spend less, save more with cheap rent. Sounds like they didn't bother. It's not their land, the park is closing. Make hay while the sun shines.

No words to what they have done to us. I've been a resident of LilAbner for 32 years and simply feel betrayed. We've been treated like garbage... thrown out with no remorse... very sad for many of us

They did that to my mom in Miami after 28 years of living in her dream home the bank disappear and they didn't let her know where they went so she lost the house the house went on the on the foreclosure and she lost her house

If we are going to keep covering this story, plz stop painting the park owner as the villain for doing what they want with land they own. This story is about renters being duped by realators and feeling they own things they don't like land here. They own the house, not the land and they have gotten more than a fair legal offer to leave before

Miami is a city where half the people are out to get one over on you. Everyone is worried about nothing else but themselves. People move here thinking it’s a nice place or they think it’s cheaper… this is the reality though.

The residents have the right of first refusal, they could have contacted the government for a grant to buy the land and become the owners.

You're thinking of lifestyle centers. 15 Minute Cities are in Europe, and nobody "snuck them in" they're older than the United States by hundreds of years.

No, the owner raul he inherited the land since he's a blood relative of the owners that died a while back, he decided to evict everyone to supposedly make a new community or make the whole place apartments

Excluding the transactions involving Carlos's MH (that transaction looks shady on many levels), there were only three (THREE!) MLS-listed sales in that park in 2024. The reporter states: "We learned SOME realtors created companies to buy these homes in January and sell them months later, raising questions about what they knew and when they knew it." The report then shows a FL DBPR screenshot showing the name of ONE person. So, if "REALTORS" were doing this, what other realtors (plural) were involved in this purported scheme? It seems this report is about the actions of a single person. Of course WPLG can generate more clicks (and outrage) by framing it so that "realtors" (some nebulous number between two and infinity) are to to blame. This report is half-baked and lazily researched. Oh, and the headline is misleading too. PS. When the owner of tract of land is in negotiations to sell that tract, it's ignorant to assume they are reporting the status of their negotiations to every real estate agent in S Florida. That's not the way it works. Anyone who thinks otherwise is clueless.

Hello I'm a resident but I recently just left, I left my cats out there I can not bring them with me. I miss them a lot I have 12 cats no papers on them but they're all mines cuz they're born inside my house and all. Iwnas told that I can not come back but I'm going back I need to get mail I still have over there. I see Chris is leaving and that in video btw my house is on that same street so if you can cats around 11262 and it's empty that's my house. I have mostly black and white cats without tail and others with tails and 2 that are orange white and black. Pelase someone feed them tomorrow I'm going to see them, I called 311 and they said they can't and rescue missions no kill mission can't do it they're full and I question this state condition for animals who need rescuing.

Given the size and location, surprised the mobile home park lasted long as it did. Anyone living on rented land should be aware of encroaching development. Appears to be an apartment complex adjacent and another building under construction. The warning signs were there for a while. Shame so many residents missed it, but not all of them did. Don't people view the news at all. Mobile home parks are gouging on rent and many closing down all throughout the country. No one should be buying one in 2024. Heck, even 20-30 years ago it was often recommended against.
@supernova1171117 күн бұрын
I agree. It’s disgusting that this is going on at all or ever started in the first place. Every one of these people should have had the opportunity to buy the land with the home just like any other house. Mobile homes are great but only if you own the land underneath them.
