Squirrel hunting is a learning experience for the beginner and can be a masterclass for learning how to stalk and sneak in the woods. The diversity of firearms used, techniques on calling, it all started with squirrel for me. Good table fair and numerous ways to cook them make it well worth a walk in the woods.

I’m 53 and I remember in the early 90’s guys scoffed at small game hunting, even rabbits. Then I took some friends rabbit hunting with a couple good beagles of my in-laws…..we got into some great rabbit habitat and it was on! Fast action and guys yelling and laughing because a rabbit can get on down with speed when they want to!! After that, they wanted to do more small game hunting. Personally, I don’t hunt until a good frost each year….which lately seems to be later and later unfortunately. I deer hunt but mainly for the meat and then it’s upland birds and then ducks!

The key is to go slow and as quiet as possible. You have to spot them first before they spot you. Sitting next to a hickory tree and just wait can be the best method at times.

Thank you for your video. I’ve been thinking of squirrel hunting for a while and watching a lot of videos for tips and tricks. Just ordered a few different choke tubes to pattern then off to the woods.

Squirrels can see in color....unlike deer. The blaze orange can give your position away. But no animal is worth your life

No they don't. They essentially have the same color deficit as deer. Red, orange..no problem for hunting.

maybe you can get a higher paying job if you learn to spell privilege. but in all seriousness, if you live in the states you can afford a suppressor with a minimum wage job if you leave high cost of living cities/states and save money.
