Under the Glass - Season 2 ep 2 pushes Brett beyond his HP thruster comfort zone with the twin fin Christenson Lane Splitter. This episode demystifies high performance twins and shows viewers why all boards with two fins shouldn't be judged the same.

Incredible content - Absolutely frothed out of my mind on my Lane Splitter. First session, first wave and first turn was maybe one of the best backside turns of my life. How’s that for the first wave/turn on a new board!?!!? I’ve never experienced such speed and gas pedal on a board - when you push on the tail, the board generates speed but also has a fun loose feel that I’d attribute to the twin fin and reverse vee bottom. The paddle power and glide into waves is just right and offers a forgiving board with high end performance. I went 5’6” and around 29 liter - it’s perfect for me and I’m glad I chose that size. I paired the board with the Christenson Fiberglass Twin Fin. I’m an experienced surfer at 5’8” and 157 lbs and typically ride boards around 28.5L.

This shape is a recurring flashback. It was great in the 70's as a single fin, great in the 80's as a thruster, and has always lent itself well to twin and quad applications. Just don't leave too much thickness in the tail.

The multi- personality surfboard experience ( in a good way ) is exactly how I found it . And yep , so not easy to switch from this board to other twinnies. I ended up just staying on my CC fish

Nice board for Chicama Perú good waves for twin fins better than performance surfboards

I’m 93kgs and 6’3”, got the 5’10 squash and it’s worked great, when you bring that foot back and jam a hard top turn it feels so good. Bought the 6’ swallow tail as a step up, still figuring that out but it gets into waves super easy, still figuring out if it’s as easy to turn. Only issue I had with my 5’10 is I popped the fin box on a big bottom turn when I got jammed into a heavy wave. But the shop repaired it at cost which was great.

Hey mate, did you get the swallow tail 6’0 standard dims or custom? About to get one too but can’t make my mind up between the 5’10 and 5’11 stock. I’m 83kg x 6’1

@@alessiodimeo7031 I actually got the 5’11 and the 6’ (made an incorrect reference above). When I’m paddle fit and a bit closer to 90kg I would definitely want the 5’11 squash. For bigger days or when I’m heavier and haven’t been out for a while I’ll be on the 6’ swallow. For reference my daily driver short board is a 6’3” OG flyer CI at 35L. So my sweet spot is 35-36L. It’s surprising how small the splitter board is but how well it paddles. So it’s up to you if you would prefer smaller with more manoeuvrability or larger with more paddle power and flow! Let me know if you have any other questions

I'm wondering how to custom size this. I am the same weight as Brett but I am 6'1. Boards that small feel a bit weird to me but at the same time the 5'8/5'9 stock feels massive, thickness wise, its thicker than the classic fishes I'd ride.

Looks like the stock 5-4 is 26L. The 5-9 is 32.5L x 2 5/8 thick and still under 20" wide. I agree that 2 5/8 feels pretty thick. Maybe they would do a custom at 2.5 thick and a bit wider, like 20.25 if you wanted to keep some of the float? Probably would still be around 32L. Some shapers don't love to mess with dimensions much so it depends on how flexible they are. These volume forward boards can really hide some foam and in the right spot for paddling and speed. I'm your size and built a roughly comparable 5-9 for myself and it is a really fun size and shape.

It depends on the situation. Some of our team ride for brands, Brett rode for SuperBrand for years before this opportunity arose. The chance to have an unbiased surfer who can rip, to review any board out there was pretty exciting for all involved!

@@REALWatersports that makes sense. Brett’s quiver video is what got me to buy the super brand “fling” such an awesome board!
