Great to see you on the Foil Drive. Having Josh & Ben giving you tips will shorten your learning curve. One tip I picked up from Ben was to trace the water surface when it's choppy.

The foot shuffle is tricky. I agree the weight distribution shift with only body position doesn't quite cut it. Do you do it before on wave (like when arc'ing onto the swell with motor still pushing) or after up and fully on foil only? When my feet land in the wrong place nothing goes right, that's for sure.

Yeah adjusting your feet while on foil is tricky. Especially the front foot. I normally get my front foot set and then get my back foot positioned while I’m holding the front of the board with my hands. Once on foil my front foot stays in place and I ride with my back foot forward and then move it back when I get on a wave.

Can you film a video using different Armstrong foils with Foildrive? Looks like you were using an MA?

Yes, more Armstrong… foil drive ok too, but add Armstrong in other topics… thank you 😁🤙🏽

I have been Foil Driving on the HA line. In this video I’m on the 1180. I used that for learning and pumping. Also done a couple downwinders on the 1180. Depending on the size, I’m riding the HA1080 and 980. I like the HA for the extra glide and efficiency. The MA will work better for newer foilers and for the breach recovery.

Just noticed at the end you said front foot then back? Is that critical?
@REALmattnuzzo4 ай бұрын
Yes. I tried doing it like I was surfing with back foot first and it was a lot harder. By planting your front foot first you have your weight forward and keep the nose down so you can plane out.

@@REALmattnuzzogood point I’m just behind the foil journey from prior surfing..

If Matt has a hard time, im sure I would seriously struggle to switch from on power to foil only, I guess you have to either move the feet first, or get ready to shift after disengaging the drive. Larry

Look everyone, NUMBER ONE THING I SEE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Not getting enough speed before you pop up. Get some speed going before you even think about popping up. I've never done the whole going to knees thing, I basically get enough speed to where the foil wants to come out of the water, keep that baby down and do a standard surf pop up. #2 Stop being so stiff, my goodness relax your body people, let your hips go free, relax and it your sessions will be sooo much better. Learning to be loose and move your feet around on the board when on / off power is extremely important.
