Honorable mention: the dart gun. No, it doesn't do tremendous amounts of damage, but instantly crippling the legs of anything you shoot can be extremely useful. It turns any melee enemy into a joke and is one of the few silent weapons in Fallout 3. It's also easy to make, with the hardest component to get being a radscorpion poison gland. Ammo for it is also way more common than it feels like it should be.

I love the Metal Blaster, its the sole reason to go energy weapons build in Fallout 3 and do the Pit DLC first

A3-21’s and novasurge are good too, and the alien pistol whose name I’m forgetting with the ridiculously low AP cost combined with Grim Reaper’s Sprint makes a great VATS weapon.

Paulson’s revolver and Jack are both one of the best weapons. I would consider them both to be on the level of the combat shotgun.

I'm surprised that the Xuanlong isn't mentioned here. Its the best assault rifle, can be easily fixed with similar weapons, good rof and the 5.56 ammo is easily plentiful 👍🏻

It’s OK, but it’s just OK. Best of the best of a fairly limited class of weapons isn’t much of a selling point.

Reference the combat shotgun you can also get them (usually in bad repair) in assorted boobytraps around the Wasteland.

Good list. I would argue the unbreakable sniper is better than Lincoln’s repeater and the unbreakable shotgun is better than the terrible shotgun (if we are including those 2). I would include Paulsons revolver because of the fire rate and crit chance. I would also have included protectron’s gaze just because it’s my favorite weapon for dealing with weak enemies. It’s the best of all the strong and cheap to operate weapons (Sydney’s SMG, ol’ painless, Xuanlong Assault Rifle, etc.). Also super easy to get. Definitely weaker than most of the weapons on this list but still super strong and super practical.

Metal Blaster is very good in Fallout 3 and become obsene if you are playing Tales of Two Wastelands and you have all the New Vegas energy weapon perks

I am happy the Metal Blaster is only requires you to get half the ingots, because I get it every playthrough lmao

I'm gonna be honest. At some point while playing fallout 3 I was doing more damage with crits and base walloping with my bare hands over any gun or unarmed weapon. Maybe something glitches with my build near the end with "almost perfect" with overlapping or some stuff. This was every DLC on the hardest difficulty
