FYI for anyone wondering about the 'input' on the track - on my version of Reaper it doesn't show until you click on the red button with the white circle to the left. This "arms" the track and then brings up the dropdown to click on (input: mono, input: stereo, input: MIDI, input: none).
@pryori Жыл бұрын
but how do u select ur input from there? i dont see it

Thanks, man. My recording journey has begun before I turn 50, and you have helped with it. Don't worry about your guitar skills - we all criticize ourselves in that area... such an easy-to-learn instrument, and yet so hard to master.

Thank you for the simple and concise video that is truly directed to the beginner. There are way to many videographers out there that remind me of my math teacher. To them it's easy, so they just rush through figuring that you understand a lot of what's being taught already. I don't, that's the definition of a beginner! Looking forward to checking out more of your videos!

Other tutorials on here led me to select Reaper as my DAW, but yours is the first that actually showed me how to record tracks, as a totally inexperienced user. One simple question comes to mind that many reading here might wish to know: Can I use my digital effects pedal between my guitar and my recording interface, rather than using the plug-in effects? I am using a Behringer UM202-HD, which is very similar to the Focusrite in this video.

Hello Mr Holt… I enjoyed your reaper tutorial. ….. Would you have any experience with thunderbolt connections… I had a new machine built with thunderbolt three and four input connectors ,in the back….. My focusrite clarett is fairly old (2015) and clearly has a thunderbolt one and two output…. I downloaded thunderbolt three and four drivers for this new machine….. I cannot get any channel input on the meter…. Do you suppose I need to erase the drivers for three and four and download ones for one and two ?….thanks for your time, Pete K.

Good starting point for me. Thanks for sharing. Does the reverb have to be put on AFTER the vocal has been recorded? I ask, as I followed a different tutorial, that created a reverb channel and used what they called a send. This worked fine on the VST instrument (I was using a midi keyboard), but wouldn't work on the input channel for the voice.

Hay, John quick question ,easy question Is the master track the one you put a limiter on ? why is there no decent tutorials at how to get the best level using the master track and which plugins for limiters on the master track it appears that most tutorials are always on about the darn drums . I like to get a karaoke track from you tube sing along with a vocal , is there a tutorial on this . I guess one still does comp eq reverb on the vocal track although what is done on the master track ? What is the best level for the karaoke track . What is the best level for the audio to match the Karaoke track , let say an Elvis Karaoke track, There is nothing on this for reaper ,any help towards appreciated . I have chronic arthritis and like to sing along , have reaper a mic a mixer . looking forward to some input. Warmly J

it is a journey isn't it? :) couldn't get metronome to sound , when I realized "Built In Output" wasn't selected. I am figuring out my Midi Controller and using that. Also when rendering the 17 track "first midi song" tutorial, Piano never got on board. Didn't know why. But later trying it on its own, it sounded. I must have missed a button somewhere. so it can be confusing for the beginner. but love knowing more and more each time at it.
