How do we convert pre-recorded guitar or piano into midi? I have a piano track that I'm sending to a new track above. I can record the audio but I can't seem to turn it into midi. I have followed your instruction for recording voice as midi, but instead of the mic in, I'm sending the piano track through the Real Tune VST to the track above. I thought that this would work, but I can't seem to do it. These are songs that I recorded 30 years ago on a multi-track recorder and have already digitized the individual tracks. I thought it would be great to turn them into midi and change the sounds. Thanks...

Nice. One less step as well. Other tutorials would have two inputs: one for the raw guitar and then the other to receive the signal. This does it in just one channel. This can save hundreds of dollars for a dedicated MIDI guitar or MIDI pickup.

Hi , Thanks for the video, this is exactly what I am looking for. I am trying the EZ keys VST from Toontrack and the tracking from my guitar is horrible. I am guessing I am not setting it up right. Is there a particular reason why the tracking is not good? I have tried things like Fishman Triple play before and the tracking on that pick up was absolutely amazing. The only problem is it doesn't fit on my current guitar. Any tips here would be really helpful.

Hi Kenny, I have a question: When you selected "Input mono", i saw you had several options: mic, guitar, bass di, etc. How did you do that? In my case, I only see two options: Input 1 and Input 2 (my interface has two channels). Does that "guitar" option make a big difference?
@yuiq71812 жыл бұрын
I think Kenny is just naming the input channels. You can change the input names in the Reaper options.

@@jamesmurphy8676 I have piano tracks that have some sloppy parts and I was wondering if I can use that track to create a midi track that I can edit and clean up,, then use that edited midi track to control and correct the mistakes on the first track. Another video of Kenny's talked about creating a midi track from the original and then using that edited midi track to "replay" the midi instrument via 'through midi' back to the external keyboard to a NEW track,, which of course I haven't tried but it seems that any midi info should be able to control another track like automation does. it's all 1's and zeros!?

If you are using a mic to input your instrument it will cause the problem. (I had the same problem using a flute to input). Since the conversion to MIDI seems to require monitoring to be turned on, the only solution I've found is to monitor through headphones and turn the speakers off. Hope this helps.

@Debjit Roy Chowdhury It worked well with a NA flute and mic as long as I used headphones to monitor and had a quiet environment. Had to do some cleanup of the MIDI after recording but that was expected.

Jam origin is good , but if you wanna track a quick funky phrase or a rhythm, then you must lower the rate of your daw , and do it that way, cause otherwise delay is ruining all the feel for me. Other than that it’s a really nice guitar to MIDI plugin.
