After several years, still posting such accessible and insightful information. Thank you for showing me the ropes for so long.

Another great tutorial. You have been a life saver! I read the manual over and over and nothing works, I watch your videos, and it all falls into place! So glad you made these videos. Thanks!

Another great tutorial Kenny, thank you! Another very useful option is the pixels setting on the grid options where the grid changes along the zoom level the way it works in other DAWs.

I'm impressed by the clarity of this explanation, by the power and customisability (is that a word?) of Reaper, and by how well all of this is thought out with a variety of users in mind. Love it!

Reaper is probably the only app where you can do a 16 minute tutorial on snapping alone.

Thanks for the video. Is there one that explains about snapping and grid for the MIDI Editor? For example, is there a way to make MIDI notes snap to 1/16 notes as the are being recorded? And what about how to make all MIDI notes snap after they have been recorded? Also can we snap not only the beginning point of the note, but the ending point as well?

Can you adjust the snap relative placement or is it based off where the item is before you move it and it maintains that relative position it had originally to the grid?
@REAPERMania4 жыл бұрын
It's based on where it was originally placed. You should look into the Snap Offset if you want to dig deeper: kzbin.info/www/bejne/baipfqFmmtCmj5I

Does Adobe Audition have such a feature? To me, this alone makes Reaper superior to anything I've ever used before. (Not that I get out that much...but...)

I believe you can still hit the keyboard harder than that if you try hard enough

Is there a way to make the snapping based on transients?
@djabthrash4 жыл бұрын
@@Hades-ot9tl And maybe use "dynamic split" so that your items are chopped up based on transients already.
@thimovijfschaft32714 жыл бұрын
@@Hades-ot9tl yeah I have seen that. But it's not what I look for. I just want to save editing time, by basically instantly snap everything on the grid

Can you create a Reaper temple where when you click to open it and save it, it makes you save as a new file and doesn’t overwrite your template?
@chezchezchezchez4 жыл бұрын
Paul Horn Good question
@klaasbil84594 жыл бұрын
Layman's response: can't you make the template read-only?
@chezchezchezchez4 жыл бұрын
What about just doing a Save As?
@klaasbil84594 жыл бұрын
@@chezchezchezchez I think Paul Horn is afraid that he forgets that and then he loses his template.
@paulysguitarjournal4 жыл бұрын
Klaas Bil or accidentally saving it without doing a “save as”, which I have done before. I figured that if Microsoft Word and Abode CC had it, it wouldn’t hurt to ask

How do I make the grid change according to the zoom level? Most daws have this function as standard, but no method was found in the reaper

I put my snap menu exactly like was shown in this video in several ways with the snap button on and off and then I pressed buttons at random in a lot of combinations but nothing changed the cursor from not snapping nor did it change any behaviour it seems. What could I be doing wrong?
