Brilliant video! I tried this right away and found out an interesting thing: There's a way to route the single reasamplomatic instances within the effect chain/channel to individual bus channels, so you can have every single drum and cymbal you want in its own channel strip. That, for example, lets you put a reverb, eq or compressor on specific drums, like the snare, toms or claps. Might be useful, so is anyone interested in a tutorial video? Maybe i do one, but that might take some time...

Great video. I've been using this method in Reaper for drums for years. It really is a simple thing to do, and only requires some decent drum samples. You can also get multi-velocity level results by clicking the "list" button and dropping your multi-level samples in the window (be sure to list them from low velocity to high), and you get very realistic results.

I want to build a more complex version. I am building a Hand Pan sampler instrument and I want different samples to play based on velocity, I.e not simply have the same sample play at a lower/higher gain, but (I assume) have a velocity threshold for a different sample to play (a sample of me literally playing the acoustic instrument softer) so that its more real. Is this possible? I see on the sampler there is a 'probability' and' round-robin' function, which indicates it might be possible. Also, can I trigger a round-robin of samples when the same velocity is played. Essentially, I want a very varied sample instrument so that it will sound a lot more real.

Someone said.. "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" :). I really believe in making best with what you have. I don't make money making music. So i have learnt to love free and stock. :) I do the same.. But I also usually route each of those or some of those to different audio tracks for easy mixing... I have it saved as a template. I have a minimal drum kit with six samplers loaded on a midi track and six audio tracks. All under one parent track. That really helps. :) I also have individual presets for kick, snare ..etc inside samplomatic. With the correct keys and volume settings and everything. Except for the Sample itself, which is kind of a dynamic factor.

(My favorite way) I'm gonna use this to create a more organized group in the piano roll. My question: Is it possible to open each drum in it's own channel for EFX mixing per instrument ? I want each to have a separate channel, all funneled back into one sub master, separate EFX on each.

@cardboardmusic6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if I can help without seeing your set up. If you're getting the red light in your channel strip, which shows the midi is working, then one thing people often forget is to select the monitor button (looks like a loudspeaker - but greyed out). The other thing is to make sure you're pressing the right key(s) on you virtual midi kybd (ex: C1). Hope that helps.

I know for some drum plugins/samplers there are 3 versions of the same drum hit (i.e. 3 files of the same snare at the same velocity) but the sampler randomly chooses one for each hit, giving the hit a more realistic sound, since not every hit on a real drum set is going to sound identical. Anything like that for this one? Eager for a reply, thanks!

Awesome job, Crystal clear tutorials man! Just a quick question regarding your midi virtual keyboard. When I press my hardware controller's pads, i'd like to see the actual note i'm playing like you in GREEN on the virtual keyboard. For some reason, mine doesnt. My launchpad sends on channel 1. Virtual piano is also set to 1, though nothing lights up when playing a pad. Anything I'm missing ?! Thanks
@REAPERMania6 жыл бұрын
The Virtual MIDI Keyboard doesn't work that way. You can't see what you're playing on MIDI. I'm using an application called Synthesia - www.synthesiagame.com - It's a learning tool. I set it up for Free Play so you can visually see what I'm doing.

thanks a lot Kenny! I have one more question related to the drum machine this time. Do you know if its possible to choke a sample (or a Rsm5 instance) when playing another sample.
