That mouse modifier blew my mind, I wish the devs would put more stuff like that and continue to improve the midi editor. It's what I use 90% of the time inside Reaper nowadays.

Reaper should integrate the "Lokasenna Theory Helper" script as a permanent feature to help with making chord progressions, or the "Pandabot Chordgun" script.

Nice! This seems very useful for creating melodies and chord progressions.

I was in school band, so I have a small bit of music background, but I never had music theory. Writing is very different from simply reading and playing music. I’m just now diving into trying to create music, and your tutorials have been outstanding. I’m looking forward to implementing these techniques.

Reaper has some serious power! Great little time saver and workflow managing tip. You should still learn basic chord theory, so you can understand what the software is doing. But non the less, thanks for the vid!

Very, very awesome! Been using Reaper for a long time, but this feature has simply eluded me! I usually simply play my chords directly on a keyboard, but I can see how this can totally be useful...almost bordering on cheating, lol. Great stuff...

Would be awesome if there was an additional check box next to key snap to only show the keys on the piano roll for the key selected. The only other program that I have seen that does this is the Caustic mobile app (Android/ios). In that app, when the option is selected, it auto maps the keys to only the white keys on your midi keyboard and uses the "C" key as the root for whatever key you selected. This makes it really easy to play out melodies and always be in key for people that suck at piano like me. Lol. Something like this would be an awesome addition to Reaper.

+Jim: Hey, I'm dead serious. www.kennymania.com/pages/about/ includes mention of Kenny being a songwriter. I have a sneaking suspicion Mr. G has quite a bit music composition talent. Thus my honest question. Take, for example, pop superstar Billy Joel. He has some "semi-serious" compositions NOBODY knows about, but are quite impressive.

Thanks Kenny but why you change the A major to A minor how you know what to choose?
@joetowers48046 жыл бұрын
Avior Rok the progression is in C major. A is minor being the sixth in C.
@Aviorrok6 жыл бұрын
When you "say the progression is in C major" you mean the key of song is C major?
@joetowers48046 жыл бұрын
Avior Rok by progression I mean the chords and how each follows the previous one: C major is root, G major is the 5th and major in C major, and a is the 6th in C major and is a minor chord. Look at the triads laid on the piano keyboard. C is the root, G is the fifth, a is the 6th.

@@Godson01234 extremely basic question, but you have an instrument loaded right? MIDI itself doesn't generate any sound. The only reason it wouldn't be playing any sound is you have no instrument or somehow the routing is wrong to your speakers/headphones.

Same for starting a chord on F, the note is either entered on g or e flat . Yes , ther's def.smething wrong here , I can't even get the major even to work ..it's just does the major triad +octave ( major seven is selected from dropdown )
