Usually i use another custom action. For example in vocals i select a track, then select some range with "silence" in item, then use custom action: 1st "Item: Split items at time selection", 2nd "Take: Delete active take from items". I think this method is a little bit quickly )) P. S. Sorry for my bad english ) P. S. S. Kenny, you are the best of the best of the best !!!

Isn't there a simpler way like in Audacity where you can just highlight the breaths or parts you don't want and delete/silence it?

I just bought Reaper but have been using Pro Tools for over 25 years. Editing this way is ridiculous. I'm used to just hovering the mouse over the area I want, left click to select and then hit delete. Can't someone come up with that type of command?

The "split item under mouse cursor" doesn't work on grouped tracks on my current Reaper version (v5.978), it only splits the item my mouse is on but not the other items on the other tracks of the group... Whereas the other actions ("trim to start" and "trim to end") work perfectly fine on all the tracks ofmy group... EDIT : i found a workaround : you have to create a custom action that has those 2 actions : 1) View: Move edit cursor to mouse cursor 2) Item : Split items at edit cursor (no change selection)
@dylangerety5 жыл бұрын
Hey, for me this results in all tracks getting cut at the edit cursor, not just the ones in the group. If I add "Item: Select item under mouse cursor" this results in all of the grouped items getting cut, but it changes my selection. Any idea of how to achieve this w/o changing selection and w/o affecting all tracks? Maybe I have a split behavior on somewhere...

Absolutely great tutorial. However, I think that two years have passed and there is something new in this topic? Recently I found a tutorial where you can cut it all with one key and cut the entire vocal in one track at once. I did it once, then I had a production hiatus and forgot how to do it :) I can't find this video tutorial either.

Thank you for your help. I have a question about cutting smaller section. I can't seem to find a video or anything to cut (trim)like ms of audio. I've expanded the audio so think it would break the bars smaller to cut but nothing. I've been using ableton for 15 years an I just expanded the audio track and cut the small parts or panning etc. Thanks I'm sure it's a simple feature but I have yet to find it. No all song are even beats. :) Thanks in advance.

Hi could you tell me how I can record a track , that’ll need trimming at both ends, I trim it to desired length, then move it to a new track, but wen I hit the loop button and drag the track out, the deleted sections are incorporated in the loop?? I’ve tried everything but can’t seem to permanently delete the section of track?? Please help!! TIA 😎

if you use the so called smart copy action Copy items/tracks/envelope points (depending on focus) within time selection, if any (smart copy) it's in the main Edit menu first set time selection to all the items to be copied/duplicated, then place cursor at the destination point and paste or you can group all the cuts and copy-paste in the conventional way to the place of your choice

I can't get the mouseover split to work on a group at all. I've set it up exactly the same way in this tutorial and grouped the tracks and items I want to split, but it only ever splits the item I'm mousing over. Is the command broken or am i missing something? It's even weirder because the I followed the trim commands and they're working fine for me across groups, it's just the split that doesn't want to cooperate.
@djabthrash5 жыл бұрын
@Nazpazaz : Make sure you selected all the tracks/items you want to add to the group before making the group ("G"). Then activate Group Editing. Check your grouping options, and maybe try to have "select one item selects group" on.

Left click and hold at point of initial cut, drag to end of cut, right click, cut. Why is that so damn difficult for any DAW to do? What on Earth are you people doing? I don't know who designs these programs but sorry, they don't know anything about the average PC user at all. Nor do they understand the concept of simplistic efficacy of applying multiple functions to the mouse. It baffles me. I've watched this, and I still don't know how to trim the end of a clip easily.
