I followed your instructions and I replaced my brake pads on all four wheels on my 2015 Impala. Your instructions were really helpful, and even though I didn't have to replace my rotors, I took them off anyway to clean the hub and lubricate it with anti seize (not the Lugs). Your instruction on compressing the rear piston was really helpful. Some others suggest turning it in with needle nose pliers. That was way too hard. I went to Autozone and got that kit in the red box, and it was easy with that. I did put blue antilock on the caliper bracket mounting bolts and torqued them to 90 lb. ft. I also got new mounting hardware since the rears didn't come with them. Don't know why. They came with the front. Thanks for the great instructions

I appreciate the helpful video. At the beginning you said youre working on a chevy malibu. You, I believe are working on an impala.

You are probably correct. I had originally ordered parts for a Malibu instead of an Impala and wouldn't you know it, they didn't fit😂. I don't know why I had it in my mind that it was a Malibu. Thanks for watching and commenting on the video.

How much pressure on the lug nuts for the wheel?
@DCAutoEnhancement Жыл бұрын
It depends on the trim level of your car. The 18"+19" wheels are 110 ft lbs and the 16" wheel is 100 ft lbs

Please do a video where to place Jack stands after jacking up the car please. My book only states to use the dedicated Jack points. No mention of where to place Jack stands while car is suspended. Thank you DC.
@DCAutoEnhancement Жыл бұрын
I can make a video showing where to place jack stands but it will be generic and apply to most vehicles. I don't have that same car available to film.

Where do you put the Jack stand to hold up the rear end of the car? Also would it be wise to just do one side at a time or raise the rear end all at once?
@DCAutoEnhancement Жыл бұрын
I usually do one side at a time. No reason just preference. Usually I just use the jack (not recommended just what I sometimes do)

What’s the spray stuff you used for the rubber boot of the piston??

If I remember correctly, it was silicone spray.

@@stevez6499 good call, I didn't realize this was the rear brake video. The front you can use the c clamp but the rear does need to be turned and pushed at the same time. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.👍
@DCAutoEnhancement Жыл бұрын
Steve Z just reminded me at the c clamp won't work. The kit that I used is necessary. You can "rent" them from an auto parts store. If you return it when you are done you will get the full amount of your deposit back. Sorry about the incorrect info on my part.

Can you educate me and tell me where I went wrong?
@edwardmissouri22164 ай бұрын
@@DCAutoEnhancement One thing I always heard is that if you have to use the old pad mounting hardware, you should take the hardware off and thoroughly clean the rust off of the area where it's mounted, then apply a small amount of brake grease, so that rust jacking doesn't push on the brackets and keep the pads from sliding properly. Also, thoroughly clean the mounting hardware and apply a small amount of grease to the parts of the pad that contact the hardware to help them slide.
@DCAutoEnhancement4 ай бұрын
@@edwardmissouri2216 that is great advice. On this car, there wannabe any rust to worry about but I could have Heard the moving parts as you mentioned. Thank you for watching and commenting.
