Great video! The only problem I got after changing the pads is that the hand brake is not working anymore and parking brake mulfunction light is on now. How do I reset the parking brake?
@nilsegilndland43017 жыл бұрын
The "EMF workshop mode" may have been triggered. Driving more than 3 km/hr should excite the mode. Workshop mode As long as the parking brake is in workshop mode, for safety reasons it is not possible to close the parking brake. If the parking brake button is activated despite this, the indicator light in the instrument panel flashes yellow. The workshop mode is automatically exited at a driving speed above 3 km/h.Start-up Procedure: Ignition ONApply strong pressure to the brake pedalHold the brake pedal pressed downPull the parking brake button for approx. 1 second (engage)Push the parking brake button (disengage)

Great video. How do you rest the electrici brake and the auto hold.
@nilsegilndland43018 жыл бұрын
+Brian Spicer The procedure to reset the brake is to step on the brake pedal several times until it firms up. Then you apply the park brake and it will turn a while until the programmed torque is reached. That's all.

Bonjour y a t il un défaut qui remonte en fin de video suite au changement ? Faut il faire un réglage du frein électrique suite a cette operation ? je vous remercie par avance cordialement

awesome video Nils... i have subscribed! someone told me that the break sensor needed to be replaced every time breakpads where replaced. is there really a need for that?
@Flackerr4 жыл бұрын
If you get a message on the driving computer that its time to change the brakes, that means the sensor is worn down and you neded a new one, or else you’ll keep getting error break message.
@GoingShirtless3 жыл бұрын
@@Flackerr this is not entirely accurate as the warning on the driving computer is an estimate made on how far you on average can travel before the pads are worn out. If there is a brake light warning on the dash, then the sensor has been worn through to the metal and it is making contact with ground (brake rotor). Unless it has actually worn out and made contact, there is no need to change it and it could last for years and years :)

Thank you! I DIY my rotors and pads, but the Parking Brake Malfunction orange light came on, do you know how to fix it?
@nilsegilndland43014 жыл бұрын
Is there a "check control message" accompanying? If yes, what its say? If there is no messages, the emf unit might by in "installation mode" for some reason. Then solution will be to drive the car in speed over 3 kmh and it will be reset automaticly. You can also try to cycle the emf brake with the button (release/set)

Do you not need to open the brake fluid reservoir to retract the piston?
@nilsegilndland43019 ай бұрын
No you don't. But if you just refilled it you may have to remove some again so it not spill over

Great vidoe, I want to do the same but not sure where i should jack the rear from? Did you use the differential?
@nilsegilndland430110 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I just jack up one side at a time using the provided jacking points. Check your user BMW X3 user manual. In addition a secure with a jack stand as you see on the video.
@greglindstrom68169 жыл бұрын
Nils Egil Nødland Great video! To jack up the rear I created a wooden block to fit in my jack and place it against the crossmember rear of the differential. It is kind of tucked up high behind the diff, but it is sturdy and my jack fits up there.

Hvorfor må du skru den elektriske håndbrekke med klokka? Justerer den seg ikke selv. Må du resette service inne i bilen også etter bytte av bremseklosser. Veldig bra film.
