I had noticed that the rear defrost on my truck had either been working poorly or not working at all. In the past week we had really wet, foggy weather and I especially noticed the inside of the truck fogging up easier in the rear, and really wanted to make it better. I had done a repair similar to this in our 2010 Yukon, and it has held for a long time.
Technically the truck is still under 3/36 warranty - BUT - the fix is a complete new rear window! As I didn't want my truck torn apart for this, or be without my truck for any long period of time, I decided to attempt a repair myself. Time will tell how it holds up, but I'm thinking the other factory connection will fail before mine does.
If you are planning to do anything like this, BE CAREFUL! Between heating the glass, or bumping it wrong, or potentially burning yourself or your vehicle interior there's a lot to be mindful of when making a repair like this. I'm told that a lot of glass places can do this, and additionally I saw that the company "Frost Fighter" makes repair kits that include the new button terminal AND a wire lead if you need to repair that as well.
Thanks for watching!
