Also, measure the width of the new spring compared to the old spring. I got one that was 1/8" too wide and wouldn't fit, had to wrestle it back out and in again. A long pry bar helps when aligning the vertical links. Great video!

Great Video!! I am retired early and want to get back into sports cars. Your video shows that with a little know how Triumph sports cars are not as difficult as I had thought. I always wanted a Spitfire or a TR4 or TR6. I am gonna start lookin' now for one that's cheap but in good shape to work on and drive. Thanks I know who to call for parts and advice. Wish me luck.

Excellent. Just what I needed to see in preparation of converting my GT6 to a swing spring. As someone already asked, just don't know if the access is similar to that of a Spit. Cheerio, mates.

Nicely done. Enjoyed your video very much. Just a note to save you some problems on the threads, try a little masking tape if you have room or even some Teflon tape will help some. Jim

Indigo, a Swedish made, low volume roadster. Due to the anti-roll properties of the transverse leaf spring setup the car does not use a separate front anti-roll bar.[10] Many small European cars such as the Fiat 128, the Yugo, and the Triumph Motor Company small chassis cars (Herald, Vitesse, Spitfire, GT6) used transverse steel springs in similar fashion. The Yugo's steel spring used twin attachment points and did provide anti-roll capability.

PS...... nice video. I just changed one out tonight. But I am replacing the bushings between the leafs with the custon teflon type. No need to buy a new spring most of the time. It's all in the bushings usually. Cheaper and you end up with a better spring than most of the newer ones. I also suggest not using the HD spring for street. Too stiff. IMHO. Also if you use a new spring...install the newer bushings anyway. Best thing to do in the long run.

We apologize, that part was left out during filming. You will need to lower spring plate and the distance tube off of your old spring. Thank you for your inquiry!

In addition to the Corvette, a composite transverse leaf spring has been used on other GM and non-GM vehicles. Volvo 960 (Wagon only) Volvo S90 Mercedes Sprinter vans (transverse in front only) VW 1-Litre-Car prototype car GM W platform cars- (Lumina, Grand Prix, Regal, Cutlass Supreme). GM E platform cars- (Eldorado, Toronado, Riviera, Reatta, Allante). Mercedes Smart ForTwo (used with MacPherson Struts)

Does using the six leaf heavy duty spring eliminate the need for the 3/8 through bolt between leaves 1 and 2 and the bottom plate?

Is it a good idea to sit on the door?! I dont even rest my elbow on it if the window glass is not 100% lowered

The left side still sags after Changing the leaf and the shocks. Now what did I miss?

It looks like the bottom plate (between the bottom-most leaf and second leaf) is not re-used, nor is the bolt through the "hat". Is it ok to install the new spring without these items?

Beware, by not reassembling the rocker box correctly the excellent swing spring is changed to something that may be even worse than the dreaded swing axle!

@lol123321123321 like I said......... guess you never looked under older Corvettes and many other cars. Just because you are not familiar with it or know anything about it.does not make it funny, silly or bad. It just makes you ignorant to this type of suspension. I PERSONALLY LIKE IT........ I own a few Spitfires and a GT6 as well as a 1973 Corvette that all use this. Handles great...changes camber to the road surface......NICE! TRY THINKING OUT OF THE BOX!

@horsedood13 Dude, I'm under 20. I am a kid. If you own a "CORVETTE" im assuming your a middle aged man. And you are arguing with a kid over my comment on a youtube video? You say i am trolling? You are telling me to grow up? dont you find that just a bit ridiculous? you make fun of me for my videos. and tell me i am trolling? You are a hypocrite. Unbelievable I have said absolutely nothing negative about this video, why else would i have watched it.
