This was easier than I expected!!!
I believe the Redcat Engineers secretly planned for this to be so easy. :)
Converting an rc drift car to rear motor is one of the many tuning tools you have in rc drifting. In this video, I show you what it takes to convert the Redcat RDS drift car to rear motor.

Thanks Dan! I did a small test drive in my garage. Did just fine! I do need to get it to the track to fully test it though! What I found found with rear-heavy car is they just need a little more throttle to get them to initiate a drift, but otherwise seem to do great.

ahhh i see it was part of the rear motor conversion. i have rough slippery concrete in my basement. it does great but it could totally use more grip. yokomo dra's look sweet anyway

Proper shock setup and increasing rear weight are the best ways to increase traction. Avoid the temptation to go to too sticky of a tire, as that doesn't help you learn control.

I'm not sure if it was you but I saw someone suggested switching the front shock oil to 10wt on the stock rds shocks. it seems as though anything more than the the preload nut all the way up and I'm in understeer city. maybe I'm being picky though it really is a joy to drive how it sits.

I have a YD-2 SXIII and a RX for my son. After using both, I converted is his RX to a ZX. The rear motor setup is nice, but seems to prefer larger areas for holding a long angle drift on power at speed. It doesn't like fast tight transitions with the pendulum rear weight bias, more so on looser surfaces and the diff lock up or setup needs to be set as well depending on grip. It performed better with lower WT diff oil, going from 10K down to 4-5K oil. Let see how your rear motor setup works soon.

What electric screw driver are you using? Ive put together 2 kits and noticed that ive been messing up the threads on the kits with an electric drill.

Yes! This is very easy to do if you are not careful! The electric screwdriver itself has been discontinued, but is basically the same as this one: amzn.to/3nHuQ5i The more important part is the drivers. I use these from MIP: amzn.to/3VIUROm Of course, as you found out, it can be easy to strip the heads. Those MIP speed tips will help A LOT. But I also loosen all screws by hand, then use the electric driver.

When you flip the motor to the other side AND reverse the rotation, the motor will be rotating in the same direction as the original orientation. It will still squat as it did before. Nice RR conversion you discovered. I would want a mechanical connection between the top deck tonthe rear bulkhead somehow. Curious to see what you come up with to eliminate the bending in the middle.

Yes if you reverse the motor rotation, you want zero degrees timing, that’s why with stuff like Clodbuster’s you can’t run advanced timing motors

The minimum this ReveD has on the can is 25* - boo!!! I confirmed with Hobbywing that this mid-level XR10 ESC will not reverse rotation - but the next level up does. They also confirmed what you said about the timing.

Hey I found the motor reverse sensor solution on another video. Switch the A and C motor wires and also switch the sensor 1 and 3 wires on the sensor cable. Then you’ll have use of the sensor/programming.
