Rear mount gas tank for my 1956 Chevy Pickup! Here is a cheap option to get a rear mounted gas tank.

The $5000 budget build 1956 Chevy continues! In this one I show how I switch from a cab mounted gas tank to a rear mounted one, and options for either a carbed setup or fuel injection. I prefer this tank because of the side fill and low price for an in tank pump setup.

I did this on my 1957 GMC 100 some months ago (from CJ Pony) and I got a 0 to 90Ω sender and gauge and what a pleasure it is to have a new clean large tank and know how much gas is in the tank via a gauge on the dash! No gas sloshing noise if fear of the tank leaking in the cab and the girls bitchn about the gas smell. If one does nothing else on an old truck with the tank in the cab - get a kit and do this. I had a steal bed to cut through for the filler/vent hoses, and they are in the bed a little, but all of that is dandy with me! I used the OEM filler and it does kick back a little gas when I fill up but overall it is 100% improvement. I cut up some old inner tubes and made buffers for the straps but that may have been a touch of overkill but it makes me feel better. Having fun watching your videos.

i thought about doing a rear fill tank on my square body dually ,from the 1970s impala ,and have my fill nozzle under a flip license plate bracket on the bumper . great video ,happy trails .

Wasn't there a rear tank option for the big square body trucks? I think blazers and suburbans had them in the back. Thanks for watching!
