I am so glad you guys are down to earth and reply to questions/emails. Keep up the great work!!

Just a tid bit, for a rear mount radiator you need at least a 50 gpm water pump (or stock LS) and roughly 4,000 cfm of fan depending on radiator size

Really appreciate the video. I've always been curious about this set up for front mount turbos. I have a question, how about running a smaller radiator along side a front mount. What's the simple way to go about picking a efficient radiator or is rear mount the best way for front mount?
@darthzman8 жыл бұрын
+demikpre Your welcome! Hope it helps alot of people that are trying to do something like this. Yes, we have did setups with a smaller radiator beside a front mount, as well as setups with a standard size radiator tilted under the hotside piping up front. We have ran single pass and dual pass radiators as well. The dual pass makes it easier on you with the inlet and outlet both being on the same side for stock water pump stuff in a normal setup. We prefer the rear mount radiator mainly because of all the extra room you get in the engine bay and easier engine swaps when they blow up haha! Some cars I have seen running 2 smaller radiators up front with the turbo in the middle as well.

Bringing it back from the dead one more time, so the only 2 things going to the expansion tank is the steam vent from the heads and the -12 going to the top of the radiator? Or do you have the over flow line from the original waterneck on the radiator going up there as well?

nice set up luv the car man. was wondering how loud is the 55g water pump thanks for your video. building a 1940 chevy coupe front mount ls turbo. trying to figure my room out I don't have much room to work with and rear mount radiator would help out a lot. thanks again. nice

Thanks! The water pump is very quiet, it can barely be heard.

Is the radiator a dual pass radiator? Is it working with a meziere wp 319S pump also?

Nice video, how far do you guys mount the radiator off the trunk floor? or how much clearance does it need?
@darthzman8 жыл бұрын
The top of the radiator is close, maybe 1" or so. The bottom just give it as much angle as possible without looking terrible. I'd say that's a good base to go by. There's no certain specific angle or clearance.

How low does it sit when it's mounted??? It certainly frees up some valuable space, doesn't it! Damn, might have to look at doing that when we turbo my V8 VH Commodore shortly
@darthzman7 жыл бұрын
Try and tuck it as high as you can while still giving it some angle.

Do you have a video that shows the radiator mounted? I'm about to do this project on my 89gt. Just wanted to get some ideas on how to mount the radiator. Thanks
@darthzman7 жыл бұрын
No i don't, but if I remember ill try and make a quick video on it tomorrow.

When the radiator is mounted is it horizontal or does it have some angle in it, if so what's the angle?
@darthzman8 жыл бұрын
+RecklessRegal It gets mounted almost exactly how it looks in the video except up high near the trunk floor. No specific angle. Maybe a little less then what's shown here to keep it from hanging down too much.

What did you guys do with the steam vent holes from the heads? Are you routing the vent lines back into the coolant system somehow?
@darthzman7 жыл бұрын
Yes, on Lil red we run a line from the steam vent back to the expansion tank in the trunk that drains back into the radiator. We have since found an easier way is to buy the Moroso filler neck with 3/8" npt ports already on it ready to go "Moroso 63461" and just go from the steam vent right over to the filler neck and that's it.

Thinking about a similar setup wondering if you ever have any problem wth the tech guys I was told it might be frowned upon at nhra tracks.
@darthzman7 жыл бұрын
jg89s10 we run at NHRA tracks all the time. No problems. Main thing is to get a NHRA liscense if your 9.99 or faster.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to make sure I showed up in a legal car for my license passes. I run mostly Indy, Kilkare, and Muncie. Hope to see you there.

how u mounting it?
@darthzman8 жыл бұрын
If the radiator is pretty bare like this one then we just weld some tabs to the sides. Make brackets that attach to the rear floor and bolt it in place.
