@Water Gun Yeah, I’ve been around for a long time now and it’s always interesting when some old detail gets resurrected (and sometimes improved upon). Just a couple of years ago guys were talking about discovering what they called a gooseneck guillotine and it was something I’ve been using for 20 years although I can’t remember whom I learned it from. I just know I didn’t make it up myself. Also, doing the septum lift (free hand rolling pressure under the nose with the thump carpals) to gain access under the chin for RNC that Rickson did in whatever comp was featured in “Choke”. That one requires a free hand, though, and this little beauty does not. I really like this one and am excited to try it. I’m sure we all have our own little tricks to get things done … it would be cool if everyone shared them. Like from top side control, I like to pin the far arm with my foreheard to get wrist control to start my kimura. It allows me to focus on my controlling pressure until I have really high confidence before I commit to it. I’m no great grappler, tho. Just been doing it awhile. Sorry for the novel, this stuff is just great and gets me going.

I've trained 3 to 4 years over last 15 years. But I got back into it since July. its nice being able to learn legit techniques off my phone. I thought I knew back good enough. But after I bought his back attack .... yeah it's long cause he talks a bit slow. But I turned to 2x speed. Took notes of the important parts. And made a back attack flow chart to study.Was out of town working but still training.watched the video one day then We did positional sparring on back . I'm like sweet. Worked like a charm. Hardest problem was getting under the neck. I'm 5ft 8 200 pounds I couldn't get under the neck before . Which sucked cause I lift and have strong but shorter arms. What he shows works . He even shows a finish with one arm. That twist gets tight.

This works... If you have his hands trapped and he doesn't have any other way of defending. This guy is sitting there with his right hand resting in his lap. Also he is looking forward and trying to put his chin into his chest as opposed to turning his face to the right (attacking side) and digging his chin into his collar bone creating a solid bone wall. The reason the thin knuckle works when he's looking forward is because it's going into soft tissue allowing him to penetrate deeper and getting under the chin. So, this works, but no it's not the end all be all method of getting a rear naked choke. Trust me, these guys know this. They don't have to be right, they just have to sound right for the length of a KZbin Short video. If you don't believe me, you can literally try this on yourself. Tuck your chin into your collar bone and lock as much bone on bone as you can. Now take your opposite hand and try and dig your knuckle or even fingers up under the chin. Much, much harder. And the whole time he's trying to get under, that other hand is grabbing his hand and fucking his entire offense up.
@troymacarthur2 жыл бұрын
I agree with the idea that this set up won't be easy in a fight, especially judging by the complexity on a willing victim. Personally though, there are different components of this set up that I think will be useful to my game for sure. I like the thumb knuckle technique cuz it'll cause enough pain to get the jaw off of the chest and thats great together with lots of other shit to get a choke or something completely different. You mention that the crash test dummy is just facing straight ahead, and no one would behave like this while trying to survive being choked. I agree but I don't think its impossible to keep someone's head facing forward enough to make this work. By using your own head to push his head and jaw you could keep him fairly forward facing. Push his fat face and neck right over there into your thumb knuckle. RRRRRR! my thumbknuckle gets pointy just thinking about it.
