Stevie is my favourite bus. Such a majestic machine!

Thank you, Lincoln. I wouldn't yet call her majestic, but she's flattered! She's got some rough edges from neglect, but good bones and I'm working on all the mechanical parts first. She makes me smile to drive.

The front/ rear switch is known to fail on bluebird wanderlodges, causing a no start. Wanderlodge also has a key switch in rear.

That 8V71 sounds amazing. Some great points here. Gives a great perspective on some safety methods for operation. Seeing some different panels kind of gives me ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Cool video, love the Crown with the Detroit! All of our Wanderlodge buses have rear start for rear engine buses and all the ones I have seen are an ignition key to start and the front off rear switch.

Wanderloges are great...super build quality. No wonder they put a key back there.

That old girl sure did purr like a kitten.

She does run nicely, for sure. I would love to have some of the history or maintenance records on her...just out of curiosity.

@@RollingLiving Whatever the past was she is in good hands now. You've got quite a collection of ol' timers to mess around with and someday they may be rolling down the road once again.

Thanks, Yvan. I recently talked a guy through trying the rear start panel on his newly purchased bus, which got him going. It was a good motivation to make a video. :-)

I have an '89 Prevost with a loose ignition switch. Run to the back panel and starts right up. 8V92 silver DDEC.

My 8v92ta has one... Nice for checking things in the back

Yup, handy at times indeed. I've recently had to talk a couple new owners through the process, which helped get them going when they couldn't start from the front...so it seemed like time to make a video. BTW, that 8V92TA has to be a blast to drive. A beast of an engine.

I saw video of somebody else's rear engine international and first thing I noticed was ::their oil pressure gauge is stuck at 80 psi too!:: My 2005 RE300 has a small box (house A/C disconnect size) on the right side and inside is a set of keys bit different from the front ignition keys. I'll try staring from there once my computers are back from unlocking cruise, 6th gear, and lifting the governor 15mph.

When I bought my Crown the school district had disconnected the Fast Idle and had eviscerated the Rear Start panel - why?! I rebuilt the RS panel according to Crown's standard electrical schematic, and felt very pleased with myself when I started the engine from the back, but my glee was short-lived when I couldn't then stop it from there. The schematic wasn't for DDEC engines, so I had to come up with my own way to stop my DDEC engine there. I also changed Crown's three-switch RS panel to a much simpler 2-switch setup which works just fine. I prefer to start from the back if the bus has been unused for a while, then I can easily see the exhaust smoke and its color, and listen for any unusual noises and see any leaks.

I'm with you...I use the rear start often, like you, when it's been sitting for a while. Nice work on your DDEC panel - I'm lost when it comes to the computer controlled engines. :-)
