Thanks Andrew, I appreciate your support, I was surprised at the difference - I went in thinking these rear strut bars were a bit of a gimmick. And yeah, check out the gloves if you need a good pair - it took me quite a while to get these just right. Appreciate your comments as always 👍

@@Horus_Works is there a "brace" that one can install to replace "just the part of the chasis that rusted out where the sway bar attaches?

Would installing it inverted effect it's performance? That would put the horizontal bar closer to the floor, and be less obstructive when you collapse the back seats for extra trunk space.

Or maybe 90 degrees rotated, with the horizontal bar next to the back seats? I think it will still work.... That bar seems stiff enough to do its job.

The bar is definitely stiff enough for mounting it in any rotation, just make sure you clear the carpet and wheel before you do install it.

I don't see why not, you could definitely mount this upside down, just watch for clearance underneath - carpet, spare wheel, etc.

Nice job! I have FSWerks in my Focus! When you have the opportunity go to junker found a cover o just fixing your because the only you need is mark the cover which a maker make 4 little hose and put the bar on the cover. Look more more better.

Very interesting, I've known about these for many years but the fact it'll compromise load area I've never fitted one. I did have a decent adj front strut bar on my last Focus and there was minimal improvements. A quick update on my silver 3dr , ST170 headers(Toyomods UK) are on and working, 2x things to do is get the power steering pipe modified and change the shape of dipstick tube then it's make a new stainless exhaust system . Not a weekend job!

Thanks Marty, I've created a bar in my boot that divides up the boot space now, so if anything, the shopping bags don't slide around as much and fall over, haha. I've been looking at some ST170 headers too, but I did hear that you have to change over the dipstick from an ST170 as well as the 2.0 dipstick gets in the way. Thanks for confirming this!

@@Horus_Works yeah it does but can be lightly bent out the way. Another option is get the 4 into 1 headers, almost a bolt on kit, no power steering pipe or dipstick mods. With the ST170 headers, the o2 sensors wires need lengthening and routing differently. Enjoy !!

It's on the list for me to do the front as well, but I want to make sure I don't introduce any understeer. A stiffer front end can do that. I'll probably do the install though, just to see what it does.

Nice job! The only downsize is the fact that you'll always have that bar in the boot. You know, there is something similar for front axle too and I wonder if they could have done something like that for rear axle (mounting inside, but at the top of the struts) and that way the boot would remain more usable. I would like something similar, but I have a wagon, and the shock absorbers are mounted differently than the 3/5 door version. That interior wheel arch is only a piece of steel, with no rigidity. Also, I wouldn't like the space in the boot to be affected. This year I changed the springs and all the bushing on the rear axle and now I feel how the car is flexing because the body remained the same, when everything is much stiffer (basically the whole rear axle is much stiffer).

Precisely 👍 I put this bar on because after the stiffer rear sway bar and springs I put on the car, I felt that maybe the body was flexing back there more than usual. That's definitely gone now, but it does come at the cost of boot space. Having driven around with it for a week now however, I am getting used to it. There is a positive upside in that the bar partitions the boot space now, so my bags are held in nice and snug and don't always fall over :) but I mostly did it to see if it will stiffen up the hatch area. Also the rear springs are feeling a little soft now despite them being firmer sports springs.... hmmm coilovers??..

I can’t tell if stiffening the rear in a car would help or hurt with rally cross.

Stiffening the rear helps to eliminate push/understeer, so on a FWD car it should help 👍 I put this on so that my car car has a shrper turn in.

Thank you mate - it's harder to store very large objects, but it's much better for storing smaller items such as bags and packs, because the bar stops them from rolling around 👍

Great mod. Is that rust I see forming behind the seam sealer boot floor to arch area ? In Europe the focus rots quite badly behind those carpeted inner arch liners.

It does not improve handling because everything is mounted to subframe, not to chassis.

It stops chassis flex in the hatch area = stiffer rear assembly. Track guys have run them for years with great results.
