Good video, but you need to include torque values for this job! Hub to knuckle 47 lb ft /63 NmCaliper bracket to knuckle 96 lb ft /130 NmCaliper guide pins to bracket 26 lb ft /35 Nm

I must be slacking. Normally I include the torque specs. I'm pinning this comment to the top so everyone can easily find them. Thank you so much for these specs. I'll do better next time.

@@MudRFunR Hey there, would these specs be the same for a 2004 Mailbu Max?

Thank you for making this video. Just changed my left rear hub bearing assembly. Good tip on the wobbly extension, no idea how else one would get those 4 nuts off without one. I appreciate this vid!

Got mine done today without that extension tool you showed I would’ve not be able to do it thanks brother.

Just discovered a noisy rear wheel bearing on my 2010 Malibu while swapping my all seasons back in.. I was going to replace my rear sway bar links, so I can see removing the hub makes it much easier. Thanks MudRFunR. Kepp fixin your Malibu.

@@MudRFunR I am using this video as a reference for my 2004 Malibu Maxx. just took the wheel off to check my measurements, looks like I am looking at 13 14 and 16 or 5/8 since I didn't have a 16mm. ill keep checking. I saw a guy remove a part he used a second jack and propped up the wheel and undid a larger bolt I guess it gave him more room. I see you didn't need to do that. some times less is more. ill keep checking in with questions if that is okay? I am also going to check out my wheel hubs for grease. this was a fantastic source.

Nice! Thanks man, my wheel bearing is definitely scratching a lot when I drive so I’m going to be replacing it soon. In the meantime I’ve just been using a high temp lube, but that lube only lasts 5 days or so until the noise is back.

Hope you get it changed soon!

Hey pal! Stay warm up there! I'm still dreaming of a wrangler. I look at them online for sale every day. Just need the 2500-3500. I still think I definitely want the straight 6. Now is the kind of time you really like having that new shop. Take care!

MudRFunR Way colder than normal pal! I think coldest in 25 years in this area. There is a big difference between 0 and 15 even.

I just did this on my 09 Malibu. I had to remove the bolt holding the upper end of the sway bar link to access one of the nuts, swivel ext was not enough. Also had to use a 1/2 drive shallow socket, 3/8 deep did not work for me on all nuts.

I noticed on my 2003 buick,I was changing bearings every two years.so,the next time I change a bearing,I took the new one apart to see how much grease was is in it.there was one little dab of grease,so now I take the new bearings apart and pack it with grease and coat the outside with grease so the tin cover lasts longer.I now havent changed a bearing for 3 years..
@MudRFunR6 жыл бұрын
Wow, I never thought to check the new bearings. This car has 220 000 kms and it's the first rear bearing that's been changed. The other side is still fine. (for now)

Thank you so much, this finally happened to my Malibu rear passenger wheel, by any chance do you remember the security bolt size so I can pick them up at autozone, thank you!!

Not sure what bolt you meant. My wheel nuts don't have a security bolt.

Yes it was chilly. You can hear my heater running in the background in some parts. My shop isn't insulated fully yet. Not a good thing in Canada.

Was there an issue with re-alignment?
@MudRFunR5 жыл бұрын
There should not be any alignment issues if the bearing is installed properly.

We had trouble with front bearings going. We owned this since brand new. It had over 200 000 km with the original bearings.
