How do you ensure the correct torque for each bolt you reinstalled ? Can you set your impact driver or did u use a torque wrench?
@barricadegarage53615 жыл бұрын
MrPsychoMiko1 Use a torque wrench to set accurate torque on fastners. Ive been doing this for a long time so I know how these torque values feel when they are reached so I rarely use a torqe wrench for suspension work. I still choose to post the torque specs to give the viewers that dont have a torque wrench a good idea of how tight the fastners should be.
@rahrah80765 жыл бұрын
MrPsychoMiko1 yes thread locker should be added..fasteners should be torqued to factory specs..definitely the wheel hub bearing should be torqued to factory specs lol that wheel hub bearing won’t last long
@gregsmith3322 жыл бұрын
@@rahrah8076 The axle nut is supposed to be torqued to 159 foot pounds. The Milwaukee Fuel M12 2555-20 impact wrench that he used is rated to 250 ft lbs. So it's safe to assume that he torqued every nut and bolt to 250 ft lbs.

I had lent my brother my hub puller a while back and did my front driver wheel hub today. Beat the holy hand grenade outta if for like 20 minutes to get it to budge after soaking in some penetrant. My only advice for anyone else watching is do NOT use a impact for the axle nut; tighten it up to the point where it starts to try and spin, put the tire on and pop the middle emblem of the Chevy logo out... drop the car SLIGHTLY so its coming into contact with the ground, finish up with a torque wrench to 159 ft lbs. Pop the emblem back in, drop it and you're done.

The wheel bearing is 185 ft/lbs too loose or too tight will definitely cause premature bearing failure. No other suspension parts are required to be removed to remove the hub assembly, only the caliper and caliper mounting bracket ( and dust shield of course).
@darylvallad16143 жыл бұрын
The only thing I'd have done differently was apply anti seize to the splines on the drive shaft before inserting it into the hub, other than that it was pretty spot on.
@nicholaschappwll6856 ай бұрын
Solid video other than the fact that you HAVE to torque that axle nut to appropriate spec. If you over tighten, can cause premature failure of the wheel bearing
