I was fortunate enough to see Rear Window on the big screen in NYC back in the 90s during a rerelease. Great experience and great on the big screen.

Love this film, a real classic. Also looks absolutely phenomenal on 4K. I prefer older films on the 4K format, it just does wonders for them visually. Rear Window is definitely captivating, old school film making with great direction and storytelling. I feel like a lot of modern films are already razor sharp with the digital cameras so when they come to 4K, it's not much of a leap. Old films however, just look tremendous with the new scans and HDR/Dolby Vision added. Wizard of Oz is another one that looks phenomenal on 4K!

Rear Window is my favorite Hitchcock film … planning to watch all of them by the end of the year. My initial exposure to Hitch was watching the ‘Alfred Hitchcock Presents’ TV series growing up … I just started rewatching the episodes … simply excellent :)

Felt like I downplayed the transfer, but it really is great. Thanks for watching!

Jimmy Stewart is great in Vertigo and Rope too. Hitchcock was super saddened when Grace Kelly left acting. She died far too young at age 52.

Great review on this classic film. Blowout 1981 steals a few ideas from this film in my mind. Love the movie Flight of Phoenix.

Hi Ken, great video about my favorite Hitchcock movie!

Great one to start with. My personal favorite. Grace Kelly is just stunning. The way Hitch Yosef the other neighbors as kind of a break of tension from the main plot before he just goes back to the main part of the story. Raymond Burr and Thelma Ritter were great.

I need to rewatch these films, saw all the films in the Hitchcock classics set during film class, only liked psycho at the time but I managed to pick up the boxset for £25 ($30) and I’ll be picking up volume 2 as well but might wait to see if I can get it on a sale

Rear Window has to be my favorite of the Hitchcock films. James Stewart is also great here. I really hope the other films in the Vol 2 also get individual steelbook releases. 🤞🏼

So many movies copied this movie like The Woman in the Window and Disturbia. In fact, Dreamworks was sued for copying Rear Window with Disturbia but DreamWorks ultimately won the case.

I agree with very much of what you found with "Rear Window". Elements of the climax don't work as well as I wanted them to, but I love the movie.

Watched three of Hitchcock’s movies so far and this is my favorite of the three. I don’t understand how critics say any of these movies besides Psycho are among the greatest ever. Maybe the greatest of the 50’s/60’s but hundreds of movies have came in the decades since that beat this. I would say this is a solid movie but not quite to greatness level for me.

I gave it the exact same rating. Certain things like the ending kept it from being perfect. Still, it’s a great movie.

This has always been my all-time favorite Hitchcock. I think probably only Psycho and Vertigo are on the same level. I know a lot of people really love North by Northwest and To Catch A Thief, and I like those too but they're a little too self-consciously glamorous for my taste. The suspense takes a back seat to the "oooh, look what she's wearing," and "gee, isn't Cary Grant so charismatic and handsome," and "here's a fun but not too intense car chase." Even the humor is emphasized more than the thriller element. It's entertaining but it's style over suspense at the end of the day. Anyway, I agree Rear Window benefits the least from 4K in terms of picture quality. I've owned it on every consumer format since VHS and laserdisc days. It's always been a flat and soft-looking film. It's still that way even with HDR trying to punch it up a level.

Gee, if only you could go back to 1953/54 and give Hitchcock some advice on how to make a film maybe it would’ve been a perfect movie……🙄
@midlevelmedia Жыл бұрын
I'm just giving my thoughts. Not saying I could do it better or that Hitchcock needs my advice. From what I remember of this review I loved it, so I don't even know what you could be referring to?

@@midlevelmedia I was just playing around. I’ve heard this opinion on rear window before.

In fact, I remember reading an article on Rear Window some time ago that stated some critics at the time were also complaining that Jimmy Stewart acting like he wasn’t interested in Grace Kelly made the Film more science-fiction than thriller.
