I find this arranger track much better than the equivalent in S1 - where you have to move each arrange part by hand, if you want to hear the new sequence. In Cubase you can create multiple playlists! on the fly and with one click: BOOM! and if you want, Cubase will automatically generate a new separate .cpr!! Love it! Great vid as always, Dom!

It would be cool if the arranger works the same way like in Studio One. If you move the arranger, anything under it moves as well.

I've always had a weird aversion to the arranger track but this completely sold me on it. Gonna give it a shot, especially when I'm in those phases where I'm kinda stuck on arrangement ideas and moving stuff around to experiment becomes a huge pain.

Thank you for making this video, i needed to learn this in depth. But!.. Steinberg needs to add a feature so that we can also just drag and drop the arrangement parts. This is very much more handy when you create music.
@Byron101_ Жыл бұрын
You can use a main folder in arrange or a master selction Makro to have the same result. Works great.
@kickilicoff Жыл бұрын
@@Byron101_ Yes, that will also work. But in my opinion, it would have been better to have this type of arrangement whithout putting it in folders. Studio One has this, a friend of mine and that is so easy. But i have been using Cubase since version SX3 so, yeah... Else Cubase is best 😎👌

Thank you for doing this video, amazing. I have a complicated song that used no Metronome and I don't want to grid it. I thought this was unusable because you have to use the Snap feature, or painfully find the sections without it, not easy. However if you snap to Event instead of Grid the Arrange Track pencil will find the events without locking to the grid. I tried and it worked. For sections that had only a continuous Event, I cut the sections where I wanted them, separating the sections. No click, no grid, no problem! Wow, what a great tool for songwriting. Great work Dom

Another excellent video! I especially like the pacing in your videos. You don’t make us listen to a minute of content to demonstrate a 1-second crossfade transition and you show only a couple of building examples and then go to a pre-built one. Lots of information in a shorter time. To your credit, I never skip ahead on your videos, they are plush with content!

Hopefully, in Cubase 13 or whatever is next, there will be options for no brainer stuff like this and auto gain for workflow stuff. it's about workflow and not having to deal with the small stuff like this. Cubase next version really needs to jump some hoops and barriers and give us the option to dramatically reduce workflow options. Rather than just saying so, which is a bit of a marketing trend amongst audio related devs at the moment.

Love this! I'd love to see crossgrade videos as well if possible. I'm trying to go from Ableton to Cubase, but keep finding myself going back to Ableton for features it has that I am comfortable with that I've yet to discover or fully explore in Cubase. I'm sure Crossgrade videos would do well for every DAW option, of course focusing on moving from them to Cubase.

all musical parts fall into logical sections, but in my experience I often have 'pre' sections and occasionally 'post' sections. The simplification would be for the arranger window to simply carry these sections over as long as it's a continuous part. This is particuarly needed when working with controllers ( e.g. Pitch bend ) where you might need a post part to make sure the pitch bend is returned to zero so that it won't effect what happens next.. Pre-sections are commonly music phrases which start a 1/2 bar or bar before the logical section, like the vocal in the above video. This would be a really small code change imo and massively increase the value of the arranger. The 2nd simple to implement change would be to allow the muting of tracks within each duplicate of the section. Personally I prefer the event+sample workflow to working directly with large audio sections, it's much more flexible and would avoid the need for being concerned about clicks and crossfades as in the above example, there's a sampler available which makes that workflow childs play and I'm looking forward to when the Cubase sampler track can also handle the quick splicing of long audio sections into samples without the current bugs ( e.g. currently whenever a project is re-loaded a spliced sample loses sync and has to be manually fixed by toggling the sample mode.. )

Apparantly it works when I move the end marker of the song. the original is 2:35 but the 'extended is 4:44. so when I move the end marker to +/- 4:44 and I export that into an audio file, it works... Is that the trick ?

+ like many other people I'm still missing the ability to have multiple arrangement pages within a single project, one of the most fundamental features of old Cubase which was removed a very very long time ago! That was fundamental to my workflow and also a way to save inspirational ideas and happy accidents that happened without distracting from the current task. With this new arranger it would also fit perfectly to be able to send the new arrangements to seperate windows within a single project. As I see it you would need to switch back and to between different projects to compare them, by the next day you may have also tweaked some other settings and the 2 projects will be out of sync.. so really you are being forced into the arrangement decision too quickly. Would it be amazing to have your short radio mix and extended mix side by side in the same project and only need to fork the projects at a much later time?

I'm sceptical - sounds like more work than manually shuffling parts and creating a new project - and the downside of this method is you are stuck with the transitions (drum fills etc. in last bar of a section) so you will still need to manually edit them - and then you have an awkward path back to the first version

Sure, true, but first you must create an arranger track, if you have not got an arranger track you cannot do it with one click, that's all.

This is redundant. create region from session, press the modifier like Cmd and copy and past at your liking with ripple function like in Reaper. Cubase is becoming very user unfriendly.
