it works! IT WORKS! IT WOOOOOOOORKSSSSS! Damn Good! It really works, all you have to do is to download reason 7 from propellerhead site, uninstall reason 5, restart the mac, install reason 7, run it in demo version and keep it open, then you go to the Application folder and you change the folder name from Reason to Reason 7, now you can install Reason 5 in the Application folder without overwriting the Reason 7 folder because they have different name (the reason 7 folder, in your application folder, is named "Reason 7"; your reason 5 folder instead is simply named "Reason"), now, after had installed reason 5, you open his "Reason.app" file while reason 7 still being opened, and then Reason 5 will tell you "welcome to reason and blah blah blah" so it's done. And sorry for the bad english but i'm italian :p

To get Reason 5 to work on Mavericks: 1) Uninstall Reason 5 2) Download the Reason 7 demo from Properllerhead 3) Install and run Reason 7 in demo mode 4) Install Reason 5 while Reason 7 is STILL OPEN 5) Run Reason 5 with Reason 7 still open You only need to do this once. You can uninstall Reason 7 after you get Reason 5 working, it will work from then on.

i tried this and it still didn't work for me. since reason will overwrite, i renamed the first reason folder (the one with reason 7) to reason 7, and then downloaded reason 5 into a new reason folder. is this what you did?

This does work. Here is what I did. 1. deleted the Reason 5 folder and all of its contents - you could just as easily move this to another folder if there is stuff in it you want to keep 2. Download the Reason 7 demo - which takes forever - must be a slow server or something 3. Install the Reason 7 demo which will create a folder called REASON in you applications folder. 4. Rename the REASON folder in applications to REASON 7 (or anything other than plain REASON) 5. Open Reason 7 demo - you might get prompted to restart mac - do all that 6. With Reason 7 OPEN - install and set up Reason 5. 7. Once installed, open Reason 5 and check that its working 8. you should now find that Reason 5 will open without needing reason 7 - you can now delete the Reason 7 folder.

Worked perfect for me just now on Mavericks (all updates yadda yadda). - Uninstalled Reason 5 - Installed reason 7 in demo mode - Open your applications folder, rename the reason folder to reason 7 - Open reason 7, and open a blank document - Minimize reason 7, install reason 5 - Reason 5 properly installs and opens for me - Uninstalled Reason 7 - Reason 5 works perfectly after closing it out and reopening.

I confirm that I got Reason 5 work on OS Mojave (10.14.2) on MacBook Air 2018. I downloaded the 7.01 Update from the site. I installed the 7.01 and I copied the Reason's 5 Orchester and Factory Soundbank inside the Reason 7 folder. I run Reason 7, it asked to setup a driver or something but in general it failed, while 7.01 was still running (failed), I run Reason 5 and it worked. It also asked me to allow to sign a driver or something (in security and privacy osx settings) that I did sign. I have allowed applications from anywhere on my OSX as a setting. As far as I remember, this was I did: 1)installed reason 5 and opened it and it said about an engine error 2)downloaded reason update 7.01 from the official site 3) I renamed the reason 5 folder to reason10 for example 4) I run reason 7 and it asked to setup something, I allowed but in generally it failed, I also think it asked me for reason libraries that first time. I quitted it 5) I copied reason 5 libraries Orchester and factory sound bank to reason7 folder 6) I opened reason 7, it asked something etc. but in generally it failed - I DID NOT close it and run reason5 and it worked. Also at this point somewhere it asked me to sign a driver or something and I went to security and privacy and allowed it. 7) I closed reason's I opened reason 5 and it works well, something like this peace! p.s. the graphics looks kinda crappy in Retina display, but its ok :)

Another Step I did but did not think it was relevant at the time was to get all Mavericks updates i did this at the same time as the Reason 7 Demo trick. It all worked first time i rebooted.

it seems this only worked for you..what gives? how did you fix it? and don't tell me to read the forum or say "install reason 7", i get that. i've tried opening one at a time, opening both, and reinstalling reason 5 while i still have reason 7. soo....how do we fix it?

Believe Im doing everything correctly. . .rename Reason (new) to Reason 7 in the app folder, then bringing my Reason 5 back over, installing reason 5 while Reason 7 is open. . . Worked for a second, but then I closed both Reasons down and tried to open up Reason 5 and its telling me to please insert the Reason 5 DVD. . . Whatsup?

Yep, after reading all this on here and not being able to get hold of 7 I just tried with it with the 8 demo and it got Reason 5 working. Whoop!

I actually dont understand what this video is trying to show us but I'd say that there is really no advantage to installing Mavericks so just avoid it as long as you can and keep using Reason 5 as you are. Mavericks will break other programs too....its a disaster right up there with Windows Vista.

this "fix" that it takes you to says to install reason 7, leave it in demo mode, and then open your version of reason 5 at the same time. It does not work, after trying every combination of opening both or one, I get the same reason engine error with reason 5 and cannot use it. this video/solution is garbage and am losing hope in getting reason to work on mavericks
